What's funny is the panic shot mechanics were deliberately added in Hitman 2 in a patch to make sniping your targets actually viable. Before the patch, if you used a sniper rifle to kill a target, the guards would just telepathically know it was you somehow, so even if you packed up your rifle and ran a good distance away, if the guards saw you, they immediately knew it was you and open fire. They patched it so that the guards would ignore you and instead run to the spot where the shots came from, and now speedrunners can abuse the hell out of it as you see here.

I watched an IGN Speedrun video on Hitman 3 iirc and realized that Hitman's maps, while convoluted have the targets sometimes walk in front of your just out of your sight especially when you are starting the map and you can, in fact, kill them in seconds if you know where they are going to be. It's great.

I cannot believe how creative runners are with these games. It takes such a high level of creativity, planning and practice. That bomb launch at the start of Paris is one of the coolest tricks I've ever seen in any game. The flexibility of the World of Assassination trilogy (and the entire franchise, but especially WoA) is mindblowing. The fact that you can take 2 hours to slowly figure out an incredibly complex set of actions for success, run in guns blazing and run out, or somehow figure out these 9 million IQ speed strats, and have them all be viable, is just incredible.

That was very impressive, most other speed runners don't explain what they are doing while you explained everything. I very much appreciate that!! I love your content!! Have a great day :)

Wonderfully done, very precise explanations, even on general techniqes like the panic shot, pacing them wonderfully throughout the video, so people won't get overwhelmed with a flood on general information but still will get to understand everything in the end. Of course, with the new patch out the new mission is far to new to be included yet, as there is still so much to discover. I am however curious, how much of the Haven Island spotting problems they managed to fix. Now, if you please could make a similar video on the hardest type of mission, the Elusive Target. Please, I need you to explain it to me so I finally understand how they work and that you only have one chance to do them, unless you buy an entire new copy of the game.

That's a major part of the beauty here: they *didn't* see all that. By the rules of the game's world, they're all witnessing explosive chaos all around them. Then suddenly up to four people in vastly different locations either got shot, crushed, shocked, or exploded, with the killer vanishing before anyone even discovers that someone died just now. Imagine sudden chaos erupting around you and not knowing who or what caused it all. That is the NPC experience in these speedruns. lmao

Hitman's my favorite game and its fascinating to see where the community has taken it. Speedruning is one of the things I've never tried, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Thanks for explaining sappi, i always thought the panic shots alerted all the guards making you lose SA/SO and killing franchesca to regain it was some weird jank. It makes WAY more sense now and learning how it works increases my love for this game and its speedruns even more

I literally just watched your hitman trilogy video from last may, then I saw this newer version just posted. It's insane how much the speedrun has changed in over a year with all these tiny optimisations adding up. Great stuff, and it was cool for having the same music on train for each video.

Nice video, it was interesting to see the different tricks and how seemingly non-chalant your distractions for the guards were, even though we know they weren't so simple. I will say that I wish this video didn't simply use the common songs in Summoning Salt's video soundtracks, I would've much preferred some music from Hitman (assuming it has some) or some other background music with an aesthetic similar to hitman.
