That's me all day. I generally shop around the 300 to 400 dollar range for handguns and 500 to 600 with rifles. My first gun orchard was a police trade in Glock 22 came with 3 mags and a case for $299. Prices have gone up since covid but there has been some really good deals pop up from time to time recently as well. My latest gun is very budget I put together a glock clone for $265. It's ran flawlessly so far. I have to shoot it more but, It's the best money I've spent on a Gun so far. Super impressed.

If we weren't individual people, we'd all drive the same bland and boring thing - but we don't so why would carry pistols be any different? Color options, added features, these are the kinds of things that brought in "new" gun owners that never considered them before. Remember how they pushed the purple and robin's egg blue frames towards the women's market? Technically that's pseudo-gucci because they all used to be cold, black, blued, or maybe FDE only.

Id say you can keep fancy stuff in general if you want to leave something behind for your next of kin one day, because lets be honest these gucci guns aren't just a daily thing that we can replace or forget about eventually or something we use all the time to the point that it breaks and you scrap it for parts or just buy a new one, all these applies if you are financially poor if not then go ahead and do these things to your gucci guns but for us peasants we expect it to last long and be top of the line in its time since we spent the extra dime, but if you are a man of the present and you have no intent of leaving something fancy behind for your next of kin but rather make sure you live long enough to see your next of kin then maybe, maybe not buy a gucci gun, just buy a gun that's reliable and moderately cheap if you can

I get the sentiment but no one bats an eye at modifying their AR15s with all sorts of parts. Not to mention all the kit involved with battle belt set ups, plate carrier set ups, holster set ups, ifac set ups, night vision set ups... it's all tailored to the person. I don't see how pistols are any different. It seems to me we're moving in the direction of not what's the best features for something but how much money can I throw on it. It's interesting to see people with $2,500 AR15s that have $2,000 in aftermarket parts not including their $400 scope mount, $2,500 scope, $300 offset red dot mount, $600 offset red dot and $500 KAC backup irons along with their $15,000 night vision set up, $4,000 plate carrier set up, $2,500 battle belt set up, $750 holster and mag set up and so on and so on.

@@2amichaelj People do seem to spend an absurd amount of money on their guns, and that's fine, people are free to kit out how they want, but like Garandthumb said, all of it is pointless unless a person trains with it and actually uses it. I've seen people at local matches with almost bone stock PSAs or other budget rifles out shoot people with nice Daniel Defense or BCM rifles just because they would rather spend money on ammo and practice with it instead of endlessly changing out accessories. All the gucci gear in the world doesn't matter if you can't shoot a decent group to save your life.

@@cadeinscho6339 Well, the DD, BCM, HK 416 and Geiselle are all over-- gassed; which are what I was referring to. I know that KAC has their own custom gas length/ system, so maybe it's more dialed..... When talking "over gassed" --- you'll know by what direction your rounds are ejecting. it still runs steel ammo well, and also will be hard to suppress, because it gases in your face so hard. and they tend to have a more violent recoil also.

What I have + what I can carry are always a daily concern . 😁 Usually I just have a 43 on me cause it doesn't poke holes in my new pockets like what I want to carry dose. I dental floss sew them up but my folks still get mad on me about it. I don't like holsters, its gotta fit in a pocket or I can have it on me in my concealed carry state.

Are y'all aware of any "legal justified" self defense cases that went to court, either from charges or a grand jury where the state of the gun such as aftermarket modifications and upgrades actually played a part in the case?

Out of the box bet your life on it- Glock 19 ,HI Vis fiber optic sights, TLR7 light. I wasn't aware Glocks had that many problems being suppressed. I have pistol cans but have yet to get a threaded barrel for the G19 I have now. I'm super curious. Gucci gun- Desert Eagle 50 cal, Titanium nitried coated(gold) but a nice gloss not flat or machined look, and extended mags. I like SIG and own a few but, they have had too many issues to trust your life with them and the Army is carrying the P226 or P320 around.

M&P45c Talon grip wrap, Fiber optic sights and Apex complete trigger upgrade. That is about as Gucci as I need an " Everyday Gun " to be.

I did the exact same thing, I carried a Glock 19 and a Glock 26 for about 15 years but the Sig 365 XL Has both of them beat When it comes to concealed carry. Awesome little gun that shoots like a full size

Those S&W M&P 15 Sport iis were not Initially good to go. Early on, their qc was questionable. I remember seeing more than one with poorly-timed barrel extensions that couldn't chamber from the right side of a mag, ever.

For awhile they sold them with 5R rifling barrels, and they were stupid accurate. I'm not sure if they are still doing that or if they ended up cutting costs.

I think from a practical stand point, unless you shoot competition, there is no need for a gucci gun. However if you want a gucci gun, then go for it, because it's your right to own what you want.

The KAC's give you a different gas system and a full ambi lower (also an LMT). So you at least get something different for your money with those. But for like a Scar or 416, MCX or Bren2 or ACR, or DD or BCM, or Larue or Geislee... You're basically getting an AR180 or even just a basic AR setup.. There's no good reason for them to be so insanely overpriced when they don't even offer anything new.. I'd rather just build AR's from kits, and upgrade a few key parts-- and vet it well. Just like the M&P, there several quality budget rifles out there, and a mountain of parts kits.
@sofloflow

The M&Ps barrel steel is of lower grade / strength than the BCM, Larue & Geissele. Bolt steel is weaker too. Thats just one example. Some have enhanced BCGs with rounded off cam pins to reduce wear on the upper. If you build guns and know exactly what you want, you'll likely be more willing to spend the money bc you see the advantages / come to love specific feature's.

Why do people call Glock 19 a beginner gun? Those are powerful guns! Not to mention the most popular selling guns. I had to drive 45 minutes to get one. He said they couldn’t keep them in stock because everybody wants one. I had to buy the floor model. It was the last one they had. The Navy SEALs used to use the Glock 19. I can get something bigger, but if you’re going to Conceal and Carry MN, don’t want a hand cannon in my appendix.

If you use it for social work, the cops will try to keep it. If you have a 3000 pistol, that stings a bit more than a G3C or a SD9VE for 250-350....
