Eleven71Design makes an RMR optic plate for the Staccato that moves the optic all the way back so it eliminates the optic sitting over the ejection port issue. I know it’s probably not an issue for most but if you can eliminate the possibility all together then why not? It also includes rear irons that sit inside the RMR between the mounting screws so you don’t lose the co-witness option.

I have the RMR HD and the RCR. The HD sits on a Glock and the RCR sits on a Staccato P. The auto brightness is good and the extra reticle options are nice as well, but the RCR is better in my opinion. At the range yesterday I had a ghost dot on the RMR HD but or course not with the RCR. Also, even on the Glock where it doesn’t overhang the ejection port, the optic sitting so far forward means it gets gassed up and fogs a lot easier. Trijicon recommends against putting this optic on a gun where it overhangs the ejection port, so by default you really shouldn’t be running this on a Staccato. My two cents after testing them both pretty thoroughly is that you put an RCR on that thing. It fits in a 6354RDS with no issues whatsoever FYI. For duty weapon, they’ll both be durable but the overhang being against manufacturer recommendations makes it pretty much a no-go.
@TacticalExpedition10 ай бұрын
Yes. I think we all know RCR is better but it’s ugly. Hahahha. I have RCR also so I might put it on. 🤣

@@TacticalExpedition Brother it’s not so bad on a Staccato. Looks better than an acro at least. Throw it on. It’s sweet. If anything it has a retro vibe, like if pistol red dots were invented during the Cold War this is what they’d look like hahaha

@@CortezumaI thought you earlier said it overhangs and not recommended by the manufacturer???
@Cortezuma10 ай бұрын
@@rays9033 I was referring to the RCR when I said he should put “it” on. The RMR HD does overhang on a staccato and is recommended against by Trijicon. Although, many people do have the SRO on a Staccato which is the same. I’ve specifically heard of it inducing malfunctions in the real world. Therefore, I certainly would not put one on a defensive or duty weapon. Range toy - have at it.

Use of the RMR HD with any Safariland duty holster is the same as SRO. It can’t be done unless you disassemble the holster, dremel the bracket, and reinstall. It can be done but not out of the box on any serious duty holster that I would otherwise recommend personally. That’s a huge negative for this optic.

@TacticalExpedition7 ай бұрын
Why? What's your reason for not liking it? Too big and bulky? Light transition not fast enough? Design is ugly? Let me know. Thanks
@Ninja99810007 ай бұрын
@@TacticalExpedition fine with the size and look if it, but what I don't like is the light sensor seems to be doing a shitty job of transitioning the brightness to the environment. I thought it would be better than my RMR type 2, but in general, the auto brightness on that does a better job in my opinion, especially out doors. For example, yesterday was a very overcast day and when I took my HD outside, it went to max brightness like it was noon in the desert. That was in "normal" response mode. Turning it down to "low" makes it better outside, but then a lot shittier inside. They should have made it programmable and let you adjust it the way you want it for different lighting conditions, but if that isn't able to be done, they should have made thier programming better. The light sensor and it being able to adjust better than the type 2 was a main selling point to me and it isn't even as useable as the older model.
@TacticalExpedition7 ай бұрын
Oh, at first, I thought that too but once I messed with the settings and adjusted slightly less bright, it works perfectly. I set the Dot to medium brightness and the circle sight to low brightness. Try to adjust some settings and make it better. I don't like the fact that adjusting the setting is very hard.
@Ninja99810007 ай бұрын
Well, I looked in the manual and I can't seem to find that. I don't use use the circle dot, just the dot. I can't find anything to keep it at normal response and keeping it from getting surface of the sun bright in mild daylight. Im gonna mess with this a bit more and see if I can't figure it out. Maybe I'll call Trijicon and see what they say because this can't be right. If it is, it's a huge swing and a miss in my opinion, at least as far as the auto brightness goes. I like the rest of it. I'll still keep it as it will live on my competition gun and I'll just set the brightness myself, but I was thinking it may trade places with the RMR on my carry gun, but I don't think that will be happening.

Seems very, very risky to run either of these optics for Duty. RCR overhangs the ejection port, which several people have wedged ejecting cartridges between the RCR and port. Also, both optics have open emitters, which means bad weather or debris could disable both optics. Not acceptable for duty service…it’s suicide!
@TacticalExpedition10 ай бұрын
I guarantee that was with XC. They just have to change the recoil spring to the duty version 9-10lbs. No issues at all.
@rays903310 ай бұрын
@@TacticalExpedition understood, sorry for the confusion! Yeah, it may have been an XC in use by Honest Outlaw and another guy on YT. My concern is the spent cartridge gets wedged between the optic and ejection port. Regardless, it seems like a bad idea to obstruct any part of the ejection port, especially for Duty or Defense. It’s possible the wedge condition could occur when a shooter is in an atypical position (e.g., pistol shot sideways or 45-degrees with port pointing up), which is possible in a defensive situation. It seems reckless to bet your life on it, but less of an issue for Competition…unless you want the win.

Glass size matters for height. The taller the glass is, the sooner the dot comes back into view. Both eyes open should help with not seeing the housing, but you cant project a dot onto glass that isn't there. There's a reason the popular dots for competition are the SRO and DPP.
