its crazy when i used to paint over 11-12 years ago (i no longer do), i used to spray sata guns at 29-31 psi and that was the norm.

I was using all Walcom. A 1.9mm Xlight, a 360light base gun, a 360light clear gun, and an ego190 1.2mm spot repair and 0.7mm for cerakote(cerakote every day), but the guns lasted about 15 months and thats not long for as expensive as the two 360 light's and ego 190 were. So i recently switched to the 3 Devilbiss DV1 guns. I opted for the 0.7mm/0.9mm in the DV1s mini since i cerakote everyday and its fantastic, the DV1 base and DV1 Clear are fantastic too. I then got an Iwata Wider4 1.8mm for surfacer/sealer. Everything is working great and it shows on the end results of my work. I am very pleased.

3m performance. Restoring a truck in my garage, so only spraying epoxy and high build. I wanted something that cleans up fast and I can get all tip sizes I want. I’m new to spraying but I feel it’s a nice user friendly sprayer.

After years of buying into the sata “hype” I have bought dv1 base and clear. I have a w400 I use for sealer. Only sata I still use currently is a old 90 snub nose for primer.

I am retired with limited income so I have been using one gun (R500) for use on my own truck. I really have enjoyed your experience teaching us DIYers. My pressure gauge is a needle adjust so I get in the area of 20- 25. With fan wide open it’s not as long as the guns you demonstrated but I make do! Thx

What nozzle on the DV1? Sort of missed a detail there. Sealer W400 1.4 Iwata Bellaria wide open (has been superseded by Kiwami4) Basecoat LS400 1.3ETS (I live in a desert which explains the ETS) at about 22 PSIG, Clear WS400 with 1.3HD with the fan turned out 1 3/4 turns from fully closed. This prevents pattern splitting. Air pressure used anywhere from 23 to 29 PSIG depending upon clearcoat viscosity.

I was using my Tekna Prolite for sealer and base and WS400 for clear but after getting my LPH400 1.3 rebuilt with a new Gold cap I’ve been using that for sealer,and it’s still a killer base gun I picked up a LS400 Iwata Entech 1.3 for base which works awesome and the WS400 for clear.Almost all Iwata lol but like you I use the Tekna Clear for big jobs .Id like to try the 3M gun someday but I’m good with what I have now .Use what works for you

Damn I want a DV1 clear gun so bad!!! I use iwata Lph400 1.4 for sealer/ solid base, iwata LS400 super nova 1.4 for metallic base, either walcom 1.2 or iwata WS400 for clear.

I'm a DIYer and paint my own cars. I'm still learning and really enjoying it. I use a Iwata Air Gunsa and a China Beetro. They work good for me but 'i'm saving up for That 3m gun, I really like that one. Thanks

Currently use an Iwata LPH-400 for most everything ( sealer/base/clear) also have a DV-1 that I use for most metallic/ pearl jobs & sometimes use it for clear but not as much because it sprays the clear kinda weird,

@@kandyman5315 Sagola has recently DOUBLED their prices. I bought a 4600 for $375 two years ago. Now they have a new owner and want over $700 for the same gun which is crazy. For that kind of cash it's SATA 5500.

I use devilbiss pro lite base and clear …I did use sagola guns but went back to devilbiss easy to get on with …iwata super nova Is in the cubbyhole did try it a few times but couldn’t get use to the dam thing haha …both with te10 air caps at around 30psi - 32psi …you got to get a static gun and try it out wow everything goes on so much nicer …even blowing air on the panel puts static in on the job and wiping the down does the same …

I’m currently using a Iwata lph-400 1.3 for sealer, DV1 for metallic base, Sata 5500 solids, I was using a Sata 5500 for clear as well, but I just bought the DV1 clear gun. I’m getting it tomorrow and really curious as to how it sprays compared to the Sata.

I use an iwata w400 for primer and sealer, sata 1500rp for base, iwata ws400, sata 5000rp and now playing with dv1 for clear. I have a sata 4000rp and sagola 4500 I use once in awhile. Devilbiss sri pro for small parts. Looking at trying a new iwata wider4l or the one you have.

Hi bud I use the devil devilbis GTI pro known as the tekna in the states in a 1.4 set up with the 110 cap for base and the TE 20 cap for clear works well for me 👍primers 2.0 flow tip and needle

I have kawami 4. Flg5. Flg5 is definitely better. But i got a ProTek 4000 from a body shop that was going out of business and i enjoy praying with it more and the finish i feel is better.

G’day mate I’m using a WSclear for sealer a DV1 1.4 basecoat and for my clear a DV1 1.3 C2 awesome combo but I know you’re a iwatta nut so you’re going to probably hose me for the sealer 😂😁 but it just puts it down smoothly though 👍

i"m just an amateur painter, maybe painted 50 cars in my life. I have a DV1 that I just bought , its nice. I realize that an expert can run this gun wide open, but not an amateur. I run mine at 20 psi and 1 .5 turns open and slow down. I've had good results at this setting. I tried wide open and moving fast like an expert. The base and clear ran off the panel and were on the floor,WTF. Thanks for the information.

What nozzle are you using? Try a smaller nozzle. The DV1 comes with three nozzles use whatever one works for you.

Play with the nozzles. I used to run 1.3 in the both dv1 for base and clear. 1.2 will atomize more putting a finer spray pattern. Not so thick. Base I spray 20-23 clear in the 20-25 range

I like it wide open fan and fluid pull trigger turn knob till you feel it hit trigger and good 18 psi

The DV one I wasn't quite sure which tip size do you use I had two ws400 1.4 switch 1.3 then my truck was stolen with all my goodies then I purchase the new SATA x5500 with a 1.2 I I like to spray up close but like you said some clears are different than others it sprays very well with top-of-the-line clear coats but some of the aftermarket it's not as friendly it's a little tougher I can do it but I have to work at it base coat gun satta 5000 I used to use the 4000 model at one point and the 3000 model until the day they stole my truck Brother inside my truck I had eight spray guns satas two iwata w400 lph 400 my sun gun. And since I wasn't painting full-time anymore it took me awhile to get a lot of my spray guns back back in the day I used to use the Devilbiss mbc and jga but I can tell you the guns have improved a lot
