Pat has gotta be the best paint rep i’ve seen with BASF. I’ve been spraying RM Onyx for 6 years now and when I actually see one of the reps I feel more knowledgeable about the line than they seem to be. Definitely wouldn’t turn them loose with the gun.

be careful wiping last with the BASF water cleaner. i spray RM onyx and the water cleaner has to be diluted way down with water because of its strength. even with wiping it until it’s completely dry it’ll still cause a reaction to the basecoat at times.

So how much would it cost to paint a whole car with that colour ? I'm talking about completely re painting it for example when the car originally got a black colour and you want a 46v on it now... Gotta be like 4 k or something right?

The TR-600 and the TR-800 are nearly identical. The biggest difference between them is that the 800 is “intrinsically safe” so it doesn’t cause an explosion. The 600 isn’t guaranteed to not cause a spark somewhere that an explosive gas/vapor might be. Because of this, I would not recommend the 600 for kind of painting you do. The filters they use are the same. The TR-300 is a very basic model and is good for healthcare. There is only one filter for it. For my work, either the 300 or 600 models will work quite well, as I primarily only need a high-efficiency filter.

Went to my paint shop to get ppsw paint and they want me to bring in a sample to match the paint? How does that work when it's a tri coat? I was super confused when they asked me to bring in a panel to match it. Is there different tones to ppsw? Is that what they are trying to match?

Hey Man, thanks for posting your progress, from PPG to Glasurit 100-Line. Mr. Maurice is a good man. Going through this transition IS making you a better painter, and you are showing to many other painters, the ability to learn and adapt, in this ever changing world of automotive refinish. It is becoming a lost Art.

You can flow coat a lot of cheap or expensive clears without orange peel if you simply set your guns up correctly. For high solids generally speaking, Usually you will need to adjust the flow rate of the clear to apply more material for a wetter coat while also moving faster while applying clear coat. At least in my 15 years experience. I always do a flow coat unless I need to actually match factory orange peel. Ppg Deltron is by far my favorite to spray.
