5.45x39 would be my SHTF round. When I shoot down in my creek from the hill you can see sparks from the impact when it hits the mudd. 7.62x39 has way more stopping power then a 5.56x45 even though it’s traveling at a lower velocity

Police in UK use frangible rounds, they break into tiny prices on impact, this stops it going through, also the damage it courses makes it a show stopper. Military use full metal jacket so it does precisely the opposite, they want it to go through to another target, also a wounded enemy on the battlefield is more advantageous than a stone dead one.
@Dreadnaught19854 жыл бұрын
The 2 main reasons most.military use FMJ are 1. International laws regarding munitions and 2. Militaries of the world are glorified Demo companies with the job to smash whatever they are told. And FMJ smash through what you fire it at.
@Anonymous83174 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you know what frangible Ammo is....it’s far from a show stopper. It’s generally used for training...I use it for shooting steel at close range without having as much concern for ricochet as it disintegrates, Frangible ammo is a training round designed to disintegrate into dust when they strike a hard target. Manufacturers make modern frangible bullets with a powder metallurgy, pressing and “sintering” metal that is formed into fine powder.
@DemonicGorilla4 жыл бұрын
The military uses FMJ ammo because of Hague convention. Its an international treaty that basically says nobody's military will use hollowpoints among other things.

TheCraftyProject you should look up some videos on that round. It doesn’t have any shot in it at all Kyle is actually wrong on this one. Regular hollow point with a polymer filler. I carry with these rounds also but just thought you might wanna look into it more.
@panjandrum2814 жыл бұрын
The polymer/rubber filling is to avoid the hollow point getting "clogged" by thick clothing or some other barrier preventing it from expanding fully which was helpful at the time but now that ammo technology has advanced hollow points dont clog with debris. I would check out federal HST rounds. If you're interested lucky gunner did a test on different self defense ammo in a ton of different calibers www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/

Kinetic energy = (1/2) (mass) (velocity)^2 That means the speed of the bullet counts substantially more than the mass. If you halved the weight of the bullet but doubled the speed, it would still be twice as much energy

Idk how true it is but I was always told that you have a 10% chance of surviving a pistol head shot (that’s why you double tap) and a less than 1% chance of surviving being taken to a “secondary location”, so always take getting shot over getting in a kidnappers car.
@dashrendar77204 жыл бұрын
Shot placement Woody, it’s way easier to score a kill shot with an ar cause they are so easy to handle and accurate. Being effective and accurate with a pistol can be very challenging for many, and most police typically use their pistols. The officer that shot Mr. Blake point blank maybe wasn’t shooting to kill or got scared and just ammo dumped. You guys probably know all that, don’t ya? :) you just need to keep the convo going.
@onemorescout4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Jacob Blake shit was pretty fucked up, but it can still be attributed to incompetence or panic, not a straight up 16-tap execution like Laquan McDonald died from
@Anonymous83174 жыл бұрын
Wrong to an extent, yes it’s easier to shoot a rifle with 3-4 places of contact but rifles are much more deadly....go look at the energy produced...9mm has roughly 300-400 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle.....a 5.56 has roughly 1,500 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle....there are other factors as well such as high velocity fragmentation, etc.

Those rip and other gimmick rounds are usually shit....if you shoot someone, you want them to stop what they are doing. Some of those might fracture apart and cause a bunch of more independent wounds, etc.....ya, it’ll be harder for the dr to dig out if they live, etc but your goal is to stop them not wound them....you stop someone by inflicting critical damage to vital organs, etc.
@betterbuds4 жыл бұрын
i mean if you miss a vital by a small amount wouldnt you be more likely to hit that organ with more spread from the fragments?
@TrippyWheelz4 жыл бұрын
Yea, cops don’t carry FMJ, they don’t even practice with FMJ. That would cause so many lawsuits. They want that bullet to stop inside someone not go through and take someone else out. A cop would get fired quick for that. The only reason they would is laziness because they literally have HPs given to them they just have to go get it from the armory.

I love how woody always talks about controversial things but never hits actual key points on the subject. He’ll throw the topic out then drop it as fast as he brought it up. This man has never been a cop nor has he ever considered it so to sit here and say the cop should of known how many rounds to put into someone is ridiculous when they person he’s talking about has to quickly think of what he should do in a span of 30 seconds with adrenaline rush or he could lose his life.
@Sniperboy5551 Жыл бұрын
@Florida Man Exactly, cops are trained to keep firing until the threat is no longer a threat. They aren’t supposed to shoot to maim, in most situations it’s shoot to kill or don’t shoot at all.

@grindcoreninja65274 жыл бұрын
5.56 tumbles inside the body causing massive bleeding so you wouldn't really need a hollow point. 7.62 has a lot of stopping power but it's more likely to pass through. As far as I know aside from some experimental or exotic rounds, the short answer is no.
@JLPhoto2464 жыл бұрын

@@JLPhoto246 I would consider them exotics though. I'm well aware of their existence, but the average shooter isn't going to want to pony up for that as usually it's much more expensive per round.
