This is a sweet boat, but more of a weapon for weekend sailing/racing that full time cruising. Not being able to lock your boat up and leave it anywhere is a significant negative, but boy would this be a blast to sail!

@@navalgazingatcampdavid it’s a very special cat for sure, would love to own one someday! I’ve sailed cats in the mid 20’s and the thought of flying a hull with what is essentially your house is terrifying! Hats off to those brave & bold enough to do it…but I imagine this isn’t the owners only place of residence lol.

O Yacht my third favorite cat. Carbon fiber with kevlar reinforce. The one that I know off is very minimalist, but it's light on weight.

Great review of the Gunboat, fantastic name, not sure I would be keen to be travelling at 20 plus knots, 1 hull up in the air. Interesting scoring, if the Gunboat cannot get a 10 out of 10 for performance, given that is its primary purpose for existence. I am not sure what would get a 10 for performance.

Hey Dave. Have a look at the Rapido 60 tri for a 10 out of 10 on performance. I can’t imagine every utilizing the full potential of this machine, but I’m sure that Riley from SLV will try. Lol. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!

TAG 60 is another interesting design that will fly a hull, and before they when out business they were working on a 50 with the master bedroom on the main deck. Another one is the EOS 65 in with is base on the TAG 60.

Hey you guys!! Great to hear from you again!! Hope you note that I took your advice to heart and put a sponsorship disclaimer up front and try to remember the safety aspect more than in the past. I personally LOVE the guys at ORC and their singular focus. When I first stepped on the 42 and sat in that reclined helm seat, with perfect sight lines down the hull and up into the rigging, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! All I could think of was that episode of yours where you are sitting in the molded chair with the tiller in your hand on a sunset evening and said, “everyone should have a chance to do this, just once.” That has stuck in my head ever since. ORC delivers fantastic value in their space and if I had a secret bat cave that Sylvia didn’t know about, and money enough for two yachts, you JUST KNOW, Id have me a 57 all to myself!!! Keep inspiring us you guys. Sylvia is sloooowwwy coming around to the project. Thanks for dropping me a note!!

This is a Nigel Irens / Peter J. design. It was originally 50' and got into _SERIOUS_ difficulty in a big storm, was abandoned and spent a year drifting around the Atlantic. Do some basic research.

Hi again Dan. I did that research, as recommended. The Gunboat you are referring to is a GunBoat 55 called "Rainmaker". That particular yacht was salvaged and converted into a 64' power cat, so not the same vessel as "Hammer". Hope this helps. @@navalgazingatcampdavid Yeah, _Rainmaker_ was late last night and couldn't remember the name. I don't know why I typed 50 either!! Yeah, I was in discussion with Peter J. at the time - that disaster and the G4 calamity were the nails in GB's reputation unfortunately. The 55 was flawed from he start - Nigel adding length to it proves that. Wish they'd stuck to their original Chris White copies but made them more obtainable - $$!

@@navalgazingatcampdavid Huge expense in tooling-up for a whole new concept that was supposed to be a massive income stream because of the foiling ability etc. Turned out to be incredibly unstable and extremely demanding to sail even for an experienced crew. Then during a promo filming event it was flipped in dramatic style for all the (sailing) world to see! Rather than spawning a new series - which would have been amazing, folks just turned away in droves. A lot of multi-hull critics felt vindicated. GB. had gambled unwisely - they were actually already struggling - _real_ bad judgement financially and otherwise.

But sorry for my coming comment on this "beautilful" Chateauneuf du Pape (even the bottle is of really bad taste) it's one of the worst Chateauneuf I know (and I know a lot, only the top of real winemakers), it was my passion (as sailing when I was young, laser and 505 only in competitions in the 7teens and 8tees, yes I am 65 now). The wine became my full job (after 10 years working at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg in France, yes I am french too !). I owned a Wine Restaurant and a wine shop with the best wines of the world (I was selling a great Bourbon and a lot of the best whiskys, often single cask and natural alcoholic strength, and I drunk a lot of it with my friends, yes every thing was to pricey, the best for sure). Now I live near Montpellier and I drink no more wines, a passion become a great danger, I thank's my doc, he helped me a lot in a very short time ... I love the gunboats I saw one somewhere on the west english coast, I think 10 years ago ... If I've had the money (passion not good with wine) and the health (wine not good for health, but "when you love you dont count" it's a french joke I dont know how it sound in english, ) it would be my boat. This channel has certainly widened my experience and exposure to a universe of lovely old world wines that I never would have tried otherwise.
