I'm glad you found my guide helpful! Of course, you don't have to perform the opener and burst sequences exactly as described! While a few select things might have a small effect on your damage in a coordinated raid in regards to the opener, ultimately, the important thing is that you use the things on cooldown during No Mercy and such!

I haven't actively tried to follow a strict rotation since it seems like it'd take a fair amount of practice to nail completely in terms of the No Mercy window, I just tend to start off with the cartridge-gain combo weaved with No Mercy, doing Gnashing with continuation and any weaves (prioritizing Blast Zone and Bow Shock) then Bloodfesting to do Double Down and Burst continuation. After that I honestly just try to freestyle it and see where I get. Fortunately I'm not in content yet that requires a perfect burst so I've still got time to practice.

Of course! Even in very hard content, the important part is that all of the tools get used efficiently. The priority list is show a few times throughout the video is intended as a guideline for what you want to make sure you cover as you go! Outside of coordinated groups, so raid buffs don't align nicely, the important part is more that, for example, double down happens during no mercy at all, not when it happens. Using it earlier just means that you have more flexibility to delay it if needed later in the fight. This is compared to using it late, where you wouldn't have the ability to flex it sooner if needed! 😊 But I am sure you will learn many of these things with more practice!

I will be honest... I don't like to spend time on dummies and am bad at rote memorization, so this is how I have been playing for years. I have mained healers, so this has always been fine... but I find myself wanting to tank and am glad to hear I am not alone.

I've read on the balance that using continuation as the second weave can be a bit more consistent for those with bad connections since the server needs to give you the status to actually change continuation to the follow up. I have a good connection so I cant confirm but I find myself late weaving the continuation (when I'm weaving something else, otherwise I mash it lol) feels more natural especially if I need to use a defensive CD

That is a great tip! I don't entirely know how the game acts on really bad connections so I wouldn't be able to give advice on this myself! But naturally what matters for continuation is to get it used in time, not whether it's early or late weaved, so if late weaving it is more consistent for you, then do that. And if it feels more natural you can do that too! If you are in a sweet spot of a good enough connection to double weave but a poor enough connection to need to late weave continuation, then I recommend early weaving blasting zone in your opener if your gcd is 2.5, and late weaving it if it is 2.4, as this will lead to early weaving it in the small burst window 😁 On gcds between that I am not certain where it lands 😊 Also also, yes if you need a defensive cooldown, doing that in the early weave is absolutely a good idea 😁

3:15 I find that the continuation OGCDs clip my GCD less than blasting zone with high ping, so I will try to weave blasting zone before jugular rip at the 30 second burst (though I will save it until after double down at the 60 second burst). I also feel like it helps reduce drift if you have a weird skill speed tier (though I haven't strictly sat down and measured this, it just FEELS like it does). I think this is because the continuation moves have less animation lock, but will interupt the animation lock of other OGCDs? I find a similar thing with fester on SMN but that's another matter. This is anecdotal, though.

Oh, at the 60 second burst I'll do the same thing with bow shock: double down -> blasting zone -> bow shock. It seems to have shorter animation lock as well. Again, haven't done any hard testing to confirm it disrupts animation lock, but it definitely feels better when double weaving on high ping.

Small correction: at the 30 second burst I will weave blasting zone between savage claw and abdoment tear so it lines up with the use after double down in the 60 second burst. Basically I've built my opener and bursts around animation lock and what is ping friendly lmao

Very good additions, Scerttle! Thank you! yes, adjusting the timing of certain oGCDs based on your personal situation is perfectly viable too! After all, exactly when you need to Blasting Zone can also vary based on your GCD (Since at 2.40 for example, an earlyweave on the 60 second burst, leads to a lateweave at the 30 second bursts). I have very little experience with how the game plays at higher pings so I can't give much advice on it without knowing the situation. I have heard that Continuation tends to be finicky at higher pings because the game is slow to give you the "ready to X" buff to use it in the first place, making it often more reliable to lateweave Continuation simply because of this!

so on the no mercy burst windows at level 90 section of the video you put 4) burst strikes if bloodfest is available 5)savage claw and wicked talon. this implies that after double down I should use blood fest and then use 3 burst strikes. but savage claw and wicked talon does way more damage so I'm alittle confused as to what my reopener with bloodfest should look like

No you misunderstand 😊 1) use gnashing fang 2) sonic break 3) double down Then 4) states that you should burst strike if blood fest is available. This means that blood fest is not on cooldown *and* you have spare cartridges somehow. This typically shouldn't happen, but if it does, then you should spend any extra cartridges before blood fest 😉 Once you use blood fest then blood fest is no longer available, hence you move to step 5)!

Point to a basic weaponskill like Keen Edge! If you have no Skill Speed, then the Recast Time (The so-called Global Cooldown or GCD) will be exactly 2.50. If you have skill speed, it will almost certainly be less than 2.50. That defines what your GCD is I hope this helps!

Well rough divide has been replaced with an action called trajectory as of dawntrail. Anywhere in the guide where rough divide is used as an attack, you can simply ignore that as trajectory does no damage 😅

It should be noted that even with [ technically ] gaining potency over AoE actions in lower target environments, using gnashing fang still does not actually increase the speed in which you clear dungeon pulls because an AoE pull is only over once everything in the pull dies. Killing one target slightly faster only reduces incoming damage, and actually reduces overall kill speed by focusing your damage onto one target, effectively removing you from the pool of damage going toward killing the pack and preventing future AoE skills from doing more potency. You would have to be in a 2-3 target scenario where you spread the individual higher potency hits across all targets equally to gain a very slight advantage. So while something like Blasting Zone [ is ] a free 720 potency in AoE pulls, its effect on the duration of a pull is almost entirely negligible in most cases. It would be most advisable to save those kinds of abilities for the end of a pull to execute any stragglers that were missed by any of your DPS player's AoE skills in the case of awkward mob positioning rather than increasing your own personal DPS output.

Naturally, using single target actions is most helpful if you are consistently targeting the healthiest target in the pack. It is surprisingly common for some mobs to take longer to die than others. This also applies to single target abilities, as killing off one mob faster than the rest mostly helps in reducing the damage intake. But yeah optimally, if there are, say, three targets and you are using gnashing fang, you'd get most value by switching targets a lot to hit the healthiest target with each action. As long as you do this, you still maximize your damage while simultaneously killing the mobs as fast as possible 😊

@@CaetsuChaijiCh well yeah but I'm on Controller so I gotta press R2/L2 twice to access 50% of my rotation and because those are triggers they have separate sensitivity which makes an already decently difficult rotation an absolute pain to keep up with

@@kapochino8566 It's one year late but it also depends on if you do casual content or not. For casual play optimization will matter less. People will run into mechanics and die and things will get messed up regardless. For high end play then it is alot more vital to acually play the job optimally. It's still good to know the rotation and you can always strive to do it better with practice. I am on Controller also and most jobs can work on it with practise. I even play Astro on controller.
