It's a surprisingly pretty game! Like I was expecting a decent fighter since its a licensed property, but it really blew me out of the water on most fronts, especially the visuals!

A man after my own heart! There is a sequel to it that has more gundams to beat the lard out off, so that might be the one to go for!

One of my favourite games ever, bought it as a kid before i knew what Gundam was and then once I watched Wing on Toonami, that was it 😁

I was trying to remember the name of this game. I just remembered that it was a 2D fighting game released on PS1, and that it had mechas and cool visuals. I completely forgot that it was a Gundam game 😂

It's always nice when you find the game you try to remember! I have like a dozen ps1 gsmes in my mind I recall playing, but for the life of me couldn't tell you what they be called! But yeah the visuals are so freaking cool!

I remember seeing this at Blockbuster back in the day, but never renting it, for some reason. It does look interesting, but I'm not gonna lie, the sprites are weirding me out. It's clear that all of the gundams are made up of segmented sprites, and part of the animation is handled by scaling and rotation (which is why the edges look so dang jagged all the time). I do recognize that a lot of the animations can't be accomplished that way, but it's there enough that it's throwing me and reminding me of early Flash games.

Another thing to keep in mind is that I not the best at capturing footage so what you see here is stretched so that might be effecting the image a of the sprites a bit! But can see where your coming from, though I guess for me that adds more to the feel of a mechanism being parts of a machine! I miss blockbuster

I was just thinking the other day about how kids now will never know the thrill of renting a game for the weekend on a Friday night, ordering pizza, and spending the whole night playing. Sure, they can get stuff off the digital storefront, but the random chance of rentals led to trying stuff that you wouldn't normally. And yeah, I can totally understand your perspective on the graphics. I can see how there would be a certain charm to them; it's just not a charm for me. 😅

The reason why there was so little Wing reps is because Heero and by extension Trieze was added to the western port to appeal to the new Wing fans in the west, Wing Gundam is just a reskinned Zeta Gundam, that said I think you'd LOVE battle assault 2 same action but a ton more mecha drawing from Endless Waltz to even G Gundam lol

@@FriendsAndGamingYT no problem I hope you review Battle Assault 2 I would love to see what you think, oh and in case if no one mentioned it the beam saber is half circle back, triangle or forward,down,back, triangle it's a slow short range move but as the announcer says it's unblockable cause you can't defend!

Battle Assault 2 is next on games I'm looking to pick up! While a remaster would be cool I think a new gundam 2d fighter in general would be class!

Well I know there's a ps2 game, but can't remember if it released outside of Japan or not! But yeah, it's sad it may have got overlooked due to late releases. I can still dream for a new battle assault game though!
