The Nemo was pretty striking in this mook. Seeing it bulked up makes it feel like a more appropriate generational predecessor to the Unicorn era blocky Jesta than the Jegan
@Dana_Ruiz Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Really liked how blocky the legs looked.

Correction: that Quattro Mk. II is using the same beam rifle that the Hyaku Shiki and Dijeh used, not the Rick Dias. The Dias usually used duel beam pistols and a clay bazooka.

Nowadays it's so quiet in the castle. That your the only voice echoing through the long, lonely, shadowy corridors is the only thing to chase the dreary banshees away from roosting in the cobwebs built in the corners of the murky halls. That and me farting. Very fartworthy 😛👍

I started getting Hobby Japan magazines around 94. It was super awesome to see how many scratch builds were on them back then but also super disappointing knowing I could not go out and get that kit.

As an owner of this issue, I highly recommend it. So much to look at.

I had to look up the Quel because I had it in 2000, looks like it came out in 99’. I got mine from a guy who started an online store out of his garage here in town. Think he was only in biz for a couple years but he always had an amazing selection of kits.

Of all the MS from Zeta it was just missing the Methus. The Hi Zak did have these bars across the mono eye. My favorite was probably the Mk-II in Quatro Bajeena colors and the scratch built Marasai.

It was missing the Boahnoak Samhain too

I loved this mook it's cool that it includes a lot of the model kits from the same serie, i wish every mook was like that, one for each serie
@tedhodge4830 Жыл бұрын
Damn, that master grade Mk2 looks dope with the G Defenser outfit as the Super Gundam. Is there a means to add the G Defenser on the 2.0 kit? Regarding the Quattro version, that's actually the beam rifle from the Hyaku Shiki and Dijeh, not the Dias. The Rick Dias uses beam pistols/clay bazooka, at least in the show and models.
@luke0able Жыл бұрын
the g defenser from the old super gundam is fully compatible with the 2.0. its a shame we dont have a proper super gundam 2.0 but at least that works

The Qubeley wins out for me. It helps that old gunpla featured in the mook review still manages to emphasis its elegance despite the bulk.

Granted, I like the red and yellow mark 2 design from Double Zeta even more; but the original is still a favorite of me. Especially as the mark 2s are very similar to the original anyways.

16:30 I strongly encourage fans of the Hyaku-Shiki to seek out this old 1/100-scale kit. It's old, yes, but it also looks really, REALLY good, with bulky but not _awkwardly_ bulky proportions that make it really stand out compared to its more modern renditions. It was a big surprise when I started putting it together and it gave off a strong sense of MASS, which I hadn't ever really associated with the design. It gives me the same impression as like Optimus Prime or Gipsy Danger. Broad-shouldered; strong posture; thick, sturdy limbs. As to Zach's question - was it commonly spelled "100 Shiki"? - yes, that seems to have been fairly common, and IIRC I've seen it every now and again today. The 80s kits - this 1/100 kit and the 1/144 kit - both have it written out on the box as "100 Shiki." I've also seen "Type 100" in some places, can't remember where. As Zach says, "Hyaku" literally means 100 (hence why the character 百 is often included as a decal option), and "Shiki" translates to "type, model, formulation, etc." (式, less often included as a decal option). (And yes, the mook's 1999 publication date predates the MG 1.0 Hyaku-Shiki by roughly 2 years.) (By the by, the name is likely a reference to the Japanese Type 100 submachine gun used in WW2. I can't name a definite source on that, though; it's just an educated guess. Interestingly, the Type 100 was apparently officially written as 一〇〇式機関短銃 , with 一〇〇 (ichi maru maru, literally "one zero zero") in place of "Hyaku 百". The "Type/Shiki" character 式 remains, with the rest of the kanji translating to "submachine gun.")

Yep it’s in the form of a magazine but it’s not a monthly publication- just a one-time thing like a book. Japanese love to combine words so magazine plus book is mook
