Animation and vtubers have an advantage with the emotion thing, though. Animal ears on a headband aren't going to react to their wearer's emotions, but vtuber animal ears can be rigged to, and anything's possible in animation. I suppose they could make animal ears with motors that you can control from an app on your phone or something. Still, they'd probably require somebody to consciously operate them.

I'm with Subaru on this actually... even though Fubuki is probably my top oshi. Consider her feelings at being one of the few mems without any kemonomimi. Also, consider that Shuba is capable of bringing about the image of a duck for everyone despite not having any animal aspects... and I actually don't usually notice animal ears or tails wiggling unless someone points it out, lol. That said, I do think it adds a lot to Pekora's character.

First, you can have kemonomimis-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing kemonomimis flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's kemonomimis and putting them on like, "Haha, got your kemonomimis!" That's just way too cute! Also, boys with kemonomimis! I really like when their kemonomimis have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke.
