The spirit vendors and the mushroom guys between stages that sell abilities for your character and some that are character specific that gives you some crazy abilities if you can get the right ones. Some games require more play to unlock the true game

Sorry but this review isn't great. I feel like the player didn't quite understand the game and kept comparing it to borderlands. Both of these games are very different. It shouldn't take 15 hours to unlock all the characters either.

It is VERY similar to borderlands in a lot of aspects. But that’s not a bad thing. It took all of the good parts from lots of other games and put them together in a way. The sharks dudes are road hog with the chain. The grenade launcher uses the same stock sound effect that junkrat had. The elements and what they do is a direct copy from borderlands but that’s not an issue by any means. This game is easily in my top 5 of all time and I have played a silly amount of games.

This review misrepresents this game. Gunfire is Great and is a total blast to play. If you like FPSs you will like this game. It has a great feel to all of the guns and different guns compliant different heros, and builds based on RnG throughout each run. The game gets really interesting on harder difficulty as you really need to think about which weapons, scrolls and perks you choose. Otherwise you won't succeed. Enemy variety is also good, with harder difficulty settings adding different forms of buffed enemies. All said, each area requires enemy prioritization, good awareness and mobility. Each hero and weapon class also has different movement speed, which plays into the above. I would agree that the levels you fight through can feel the same. Valid criticism. However, the gameplay changes from run to run in meaningful ways. Each stage also has a rotating boss, which wasn't mentioned in the review. I can tell that this reviewer has only played the "normal" difficulty and has not had to learn the game and its mechanics. He also failed to realize there is an option to disable swapping to your default weapon. Instead he complained about the weapon swapping mechanic. Gamingbolt 1/10 Gunfire 8.5/10 It's on gamepass. Play this gem.

Yeh I found that 90 percent of what this guy was going on about was either a lie or he is simply that bad at the game. The weapon swap setting is the first option when opening your settings, it's like he can't read or decided to not even change them for his viewing experience. But once he said he couldn't get all the characters in 15 hours I almost clicked off but had to hear what other rubbish he had to spew. This game is quickly climbing to be in my top 3 favorite games.

If you have to defend the game based on the fact that he’s playing the game “wrong” is it his fault or the games? I didn’t play much but it was glaringly bland feeling. To the point where I’d rather play a custom overwatch rouguelite over this. It’s free so I’d be down to give it a shot again eventually with the hope that it gets better with time as people say.

Really the fun comes in with the variety of builds you can make each run and see how nutty you can be. it’s very much for the self improver demon souls kinda gamer. The game at a glance and even a couple hours I wasn’t sold on it , but once it clicked I have a hard time prying away 😅

This is a great, fun game, which doesn't require a whole lot of thought, especially for those who just want to have some fun with not much time to do so. Not a huge learning curve and experimenting with different weapons keeps the replay value high...also all you need is a half hour to continuously level up or at least get close to leveling up. The fun factor is extremely high with this one. Thats the most important element to this game.

god i’m sorry but this is ACTUALLY such a horseshit review, for anyone actually considering getting this game, buy it, it’s very good and this review does not give it the love it deserves, there is so much misinformation and untrue shit in this 8 minutes. like for 1. the “cycling” of the weapons can be turned off literally on the 3rd option as soon as you click the settings menu, so you only cycle between your 2 main ones. 2. the characters in this game are great, it’s not hard to unlock all the other ones in a mere few hours of gameplay, and the starting character is a “Jack of All Trades” type character where you can use anything with him and still do good, where as the other ones change up the gameplay a lot but have different builds since they’re strong with certain skills, weapons etc. 3. multiplayer i guess is “technically” easier as in the enemies and bosses do only focus one person at a time and you can be revived, but that’s 95% of games. something they also don’t mention in this video is the health scaling enemies and even bosses have per person in the party, so they actually go up in difficulty depending on how many people are fighting it. 4. the areas in the game aren’t procedurally generated, but the order in what appears every run is randomized. i also want to mention the amazing job the devs did with the design of the world and all the characters, especially the enemies since they’re all so unique looking from one another. the only valid complains i have with this game from putting a lot of hours into it are the bugs and glitches, for example some of the text in the game is in other languages, specifically in the red chests. and 2nd is that the Golem boss can very rarely soft lock the game depending on the # of players in the game, other than that gunfire is very fun and worth a try 👍 it’s also on Xbox game pass, so it’s free

The biggest issues in my opinion are stability, the gameplay itself was phenomenal in my opinion. And whats great about it, its not hard to learn how to play, or how to build your characters and understand what you are doing....Most of all when you've had a long day and don't have much time to play, you can jump right in, play for an hour or even less and continue to progress....Mindless fun, even though it doesn't have to be. It's wild that you critique this game for having a lack of weapon variety, when 12 weapon archetypes is a huge amount in comparison to most fps's. I also can't understand how choosing certain guns as your favorites is a bad thing? Your criticism of the lack of free movement is something i quite enjoy in the game, punishing you for being unaware of your surroundings. The game is harsh and deaths can feel very unexpected and unfair, but usually they come from positioning yourself poorly and a lack of situational awareness. This game isn't perfect, but it's much better than you make it seem.

@@brandon9621 cant really answer that. Borderlands and Gunfire have very different gameplay, and the largely animal cast/enemies makes its style feel slightly different. The graphics are similar, but aside from that, they are different games. Gunfire is made as a run based thing. You dont do a playthrough and the story is bare bones, as its not the focus. If you like modifiers making guns feel somewhat unique, characters who feel distinct and get some broken possible builds, and getting stronger between runs, then this game is good for you. Think "FPS Hades" over Borderlands to get an idea of how it feels.

Borderlands endgame is designed to be a loot-based rpg, why do you think there are a lot of people with 10k+ hours in borderlands 2? The only reason why this is a roguelite and not a full fledged looter shooter is that games like Borderlands cost millions of dollars to develop, this is an indie game.

with over 500hours playtime i can say that it 's getting better with every run i do. I don't see myself parting with it any time soon. And the improvements they are doing are consistent and valid. Overall it's awesome game with an amazing fun factor especially if you have friend/s to play with. I think they aren't stopping at r9. The spiritual assault mode combined with the two newly released "infinite" modes are just amazing. A few days ago i had a nearly 5hour long r9 boundless dream which we had to leave because i was getting way too late at night. You need about 20-30h in to be able to get the full fun potential of the game. It's easily my favorite game to play with friends. Good luck and don't think the game is bad or plane just because you have watched a review of person with probably around 10h playtime told you it's not "enough". Peace and love

52 gun in total in the game(doesn't know if dlc gun is count in the total),8 heroes with different playstyle and ability (the bird is OP), 178 lvl...Gunfire reborn is a really good game and that review disrespect the game... The game with some character is easy in solo if you get lucky and get what you want when you upgrade your abilities after completing a stage and each character is better with certain type of gun (the dog is better with explosion damage and grenade and the cat is better with elemental damage).

A game where each "run" is different. You do not traditionally keep your progress. Die, and the run is over, but you get a little stronger each time. But each run is different. So one run, you might get crap weapons etc, but another, you'll get a great weapon right away. Tons of rogue lites do this differently. But it generally means any game where you restart after you like the arcade game days, but each run can be wildly different depending on RNG (randomness)

yeah, that criticism is the one that's furthest from the mark... I've been frustrated with a lot of Rogue-lites recently as many of them suffer from a lack of variety run-to-run (Cult of the Lamb, I am looking at you) - so I was delighted with how wildly different each run can be in this one... The fact that the review says there are only a dozen weapon archetypes really suggests not just a lack of playing time, but also just a failure to explore the menus, where there is an option that will let you see the full 82! weapon arsenal, along with what you need to do to unlock each one of them. When you do start unlocking them, you will quickly realise that each of these weapons has its own unique behaviour and changes your optimal strategies, often quite dramatically! Environmentally speaking, the runs can be a little samey, but that's a genre problem as much as it's a failing of this game... For example, Hades has exactly the same problem, and that gets called out positively multiple times in this review

The opposite of the reviewers description is actually true. There's plenty of replay value but the REAL issues, are the multitude of bugs and technical flaws; let me elaborate. Multi-player is janky and connection issues are aplenty. When you actually CAN connect to a team, you're bound to see rubberbanding issues, hit marker proc issues, move set glitches and other bugs that should have been addressed awhile ago. The translations in this game are atrocious and unfinished; leaving you confused and unable to understand descriptions on certain perks and guns. Bosses in the game are bugged as well and can leave you unable to gain control of your character and eventually freeze you in place, making the game unplayable (the game fails to respond to button/movement procs). The team has failed to address these issues in months, leaving the game by the wayside. As stated before, the game has potential, which is ruined by technical and coding flaws. As for modes, dailies are completely pointless and serve to give you ONE achievement if you're on a console....that's it.

It’s a little goofy game and it’s on gamepass for free it’s okay I’m gonna play it for a bit. And it’s coop so that’s a plus. I thought it would just be dumb I’m glad it’s somewhat fun. Better than some of the other options I hate gamepass tho so much garbage pointless games and kids games like super pets and brutal legend not a kid game but been on there for the longest time and it sucks. They need to add better games. The good ones aren’t out yet or just not there at all tons of better options. Warhammer should be out to but it got delayed on Xbox freaking sucks. No kids are playing on gamepass that are that young to be interested in baby games and stuff they don’t know how to work it and they ain’t on Xbox. The kids on Xbox play real games and stuff no one finds these boring kid and some of these random games fun. Please don't listen to him, there is several points he lied about or did not know about. Firstly certain weapons make you move slower hence his complaint about moving slow since he said he used bows, the dash is on a 2 sec cool down and is already far enough being a 6 meter dash, and he clearly didn't go in his setting because you can make it tap to switch between you 2 weapons then hold for your default pistol. The game layout is randomly generated spite what he had thought and you can easily obtain all the 6 characters in an 8 hour time frame, either showcasing he lied about his 15 hours played or he flat out failed every run. Also did not seem to touch on the fact at the end of every room and stage you get unique character goblets which changes them drastically and scrolls being the items of which change how you would approach a build or what weapons you would use. The replayablity is super high as there is 220+ scrolls to find or unlock through challenges and we'll over 40 different weapons also obtainable through challenges. Sadly I know this won't get through to you or anyone else that let's game reviewers sway your decision but I do hope you re-think it as it is certainly the most unique rogue lite out:)
