Actually, their outfits in Dope represents all hardworking 'jobs/people ' , just like BTS. The song is about "if we came this far and even going farther, it's because we are given our all ! "Jin looks exactly the same" - yeah, we joke that he's a vampire, the man does not age. I love early, earnest, hungry BTS. And I love watching early performances and then Run BTS (the song), live in Busan. You can see how they've grown as a group. They're less desperate now, looser, but no less dedicated, no less passionate, and they've grown so much in confidence and self-assurance. It's really neat to see. (Another great way to see that is to watch all 3 live performances of Born Singer, in order.) I love that you watched Dope twice. There's a lot to take in! For all that it's really fun there's a pretty solid social message in there too. BTS had a lot to say. 😁 To hear more of their rap flows, check out the cyphers 😁 if you want a rap song to make you cry, check out Outro: Tear. All three of them do really interesting things, distinctly different styles. Pairing Dope with Not Today is a great way to get your blood up. A hype song and a battle anthem 😂 Given how you react to songs, I think you might enjoy grouping them by theme... The comfort songs are beautiful in a very different way, and I don't think you've touched those yet. (They're mostly best to watch live, because audience interaction is a huge part of songs like Magic Shop and Mikrocosmos.) Not Today is one of my favorite doses of defiance. I pair it with On. I think by the end of Not Today you want to charge into battle with these guys and by the end of On you believe in your own ability to survive anything. Loved your reaction to Not Today. When I first started to hear BTS, this song was it for me. I started following them when Black Swan came out, so back in late 2019 early 2020 and if that peaked my interest Not Today totally sold it for. The day I heard Not Today was the day I became Army 100%. Till this day it's one of my top 10 songs of theirs and I don't predict it will ever leave that spot no matter what songs they release. It will always have a special spot in my heart and a song I always return to when I need an emotional boost.

yay not today is my all time fave bts song. as a disabled person who deals with a lot of pain and struggles and ends up fighting against depression due to how my life just fell apart, this is the song i put on when shit gets too hard and i just want to give up. i love dope too, but not today is the song that gets me to hang on and keep fighting.

There is SO much that you still have to discover from BTS! Thank you for appreciating their hard work and musicality. There are many k pop groups out there but BTS is a genre of its own. If you enjoyed their choreography you will really enjoy BTS best dance breaks as well as their dance practices. If you like, you can incirporate that into your reactions and watch the practice after the mysic video. There you will see a lot more footwork that you miss during the music video. Dont worry about pausing a lot, ARMY enjoys watching with you. We just get irritated with reactors who skip parts because that is how they miss important parts from the videos. These two songs are awesome and always put me in a better mood. Not Today has fantastic, empowering “stronger together” lyrics and some of my favorite & imo most representative BTS lines ever, like the one you liked “trust the word ‘together’, trust it’s bulletproof” and “See, we couldn’t fail cuz our faith is entirely on each other”. They are all very talented, but I think these two songs reveal the keys to their immense success: hard TEAMwork & trust in each other.

When I was studying for my bar exams I had Dope, Fire, Moon and Mikrokosmos on a loop for months. Moon and Mikrokosmos to calm my stress and Dope and Fire to keep reminding myself that all the hard work would pay off in the end. I discovered BTS halfway through law school and I like to say they got me through it. 😂

So, as you may have read in other comments, Dope is about hard work and the mentality of the "adults" in Korean society about it. The younger generations are called the " given up generation" as they don't "work hard enough" to get themselves basic things in rights such as a house for example. And they are attributed a number (n) referring to the things they gave up on (n po-sedae). Sam-po-sedae (Sam=3) refers to millennials who gave up on dating, getting married and having children. Oh-po-sedae (Oh=5) refers to millennials who gave up on all of the above (3 things) + employment and housing. Finally there is Chil-po-sedae (Chil=7) which would be giving up on all of the above + human relationships and hope. Basically, due to the difficult and hard economy and society, young people are giving up on their dreams and hopes. Even if the song is very upbeat and may seem a bit silly, BTS almost always talks about very important topics. I loved your reaction and will be waiting for more. And maybe "DARK&WILD" is a BTS album you might like. (PD: Sorry for my english, is not my first language.)
