Universal healthcare wouldn't help. Ask Communist Canada. 😂 If it's so great, why do their nurses end up in the US?
@deborahh21657 сағат бұрын
I don’t think you understand the downfalls of universal healthcare. I had no insurance when I had my daughter in 1988. I took as much with me to the hospital as possible to lower the cost. Even Tylenol. I felt like you do. I was treated horribly by the first obgyn’s office coordinator. Before any bloodwork she had the audacity to say “let’s just see if this is a healthy pregnancy first”. I never returned and found another office that treated me like I was their daughter/sister. They worked with me on payments. I had a Laura Ashley decorated birthing room and the most caring nurses. My first nurse that day was my Lamaze instructor. I kept my daughter in my room during my stay which was amazing but also lowered my costs. Fast forward multiple years. We went to Canada to visit family and my husband’s aunt was in the hospital. It was atrocious. Dirty, unkept, stale looking, depressing, metal beds…it looked like we had stepped back in time forty + years. Barely any nursing staff. People there who wanted better care had to get private insurance or not get the best care. Still 3/4 of the population have supplemental insurance

Years ago, when the company I worked for changed from Blue Cross & Blue Shield Health Insurance to United Healthcare, All of us employees told our employer that we did not want United Healthcare. I believe some employees quit because of the change. The Next Year, our employer changed back to Blue Cross & Blue Shield. I'm retired now and I will NEVER go to United Healthcare. As far as I am concerned, UH is a Crappy company. There are many many people that agree with me.

As a nurse, I can personally testify that insurance and pharmaceutical companies are some of the most cartoonishly evil institutions I've ever had the displeasure of working with. It is genuinely distressing working my fingers to the bone to care for people only for them to leave and be saddled with lifelong crippling debt. People have more and more claims denied every year and premiums get higher and higher. People in a first-world country are dying of preventable diseases because they fear the debt they will face. Meanwhile, CEOs' salaries are skyrocketing year after year. I understand people need to be paid for their work. Lord knows, I need my paycheck like everyone else. But there's a line between "making a living" and "screwing the world over so I can hoard more gold like Scrooge McDuck". Death and disease comes for us all, and if you make your money by taking advantage of people, God will make you answer for it.

Its sad, but not surprising. Working in healthcare, I talk to patients on a regular basis who are denied care. I talked with someone who needed a type of drug injection to assist with a chronic condition. Insurance at first denied it. Out of pocket cost: $30,000/per month for a once a month shot for 6 months. It was resubmitted and finally approved. Insurances and drug companies make a lot of enemies because of their treatment of patients.
