Most of those decisions are made by the companies you work for and the states you live in, that limit the healthcare they are willing to pay for. But uneducated people blame the company whose job is to distribute and not mandate what healthcare coverage you get!

I've had United Healthcare for several years, and I've been hospitalized with serious health issues numerous times over the last couple of years. I always have a private room with wonderful views of Lake Huron. Awesome menu to select my meals, incredibly professional medical staff. I always give my health care a 5 star rating. I've never had to pay a single penny in copay. I've never understood why people complain about the healthcare industry in America. Throughout my 70 years of life, I've always had great health care. Considering our HQ is in Minneapolis and he was just flying out to NYC for a meeting, yes someone clearly knew his itinerary, granted this info isn’t exactly secret. As an employee, we all more or less knew about this meeting because it’s told in the newsletter emails we always get each week. I’ve seen a lot of comments say it was probably someone who had their claims denied, but I think more probable it’s a former disgruntled employee. We’ve been having a lot of layoffs over the years despite the company claiming we are growing. Optum is basically dead at this point cause they ran it into the ground. But lately the layoffs have hit UHC as a whole, with the most recent one the other month and it was big. When the rounds of layoffs started, Idk anyone who felt 100% confident they would still have a job come November, that’s how company-wide they were

If you were fair, maybe you'd consider how many people are covered by UHC, and how many millions of lives they have paid to save. Maybe you'd consider that UHC actually loses money on their medical business. Maybe you'd consider that this man did not cause the issues with our health system, nor could he have changed them. Maybe you'd consider that voters have blocked efforts to fix the healthcare system many times. Then proceeded to tell me how the ceos gave themselves substantial raises that same year & how disapointed he was because he got in the business to help people not make them suffer while watching his bosses be greedy. I said all this to say that people are getting fed up, even within these big corporations and i wouldn't be suprised if someone who works closely to him didn't tip the gunman off regarding where and when to find him because how else would joe average have that info 🤔

I don’t think you understand the downfalls of universal healthcare. I had no insurance when I had my daughter in 1988. I took as much with me to the hospital as possible to lower the cost. Even Tylenol. I felt like you do. I was treated horribly by the first obgyn’s office coordinator. Before any bloodwork she had the audacity to say “let’s just see if this is a healthy pregnancy first”. I never returned and found another office that treated me like I was their daughter/sister. They worked with me on payments. I had a Laura Ashley decorated birthing room and the most caring nurses. My first nurse that day was my Lamaze instructor. I kept my daughter in my room during my stay which was amazing but also lowered my costs. Fast forward multiple years. We went to Canada to visit family and my husband’s aunt was in the hospital. It was atrocious. Dirty, unkept, stale looking, depressing, metal beds…it looked like we had stepped back in time forty + years. Barely any nursing staff. People there who wanted better care had to get private insurance or not get the best care. Still 3/4 of the population have supplemental insurance

As a nurse, I can personally testify that insurance and pharmaceutical companies are some of the most cartoonishly evil institutions I've ever had the displeasure of working with. It is genuinely distressing working my fingers to the bone to care for people only for them to leave and be saddled with lifelong crippling debt. People have more and more claims denied every year and premiums get higher and higher. People in a first-world country are dying of preventable diseases because they fear the debt they will face. Meanwhile, CEOs' salaries are skyrocketing year after year. I understand people need to be paid for their work. Lord knows, I need my paycheck like everyone else. But there's a line between "making a living" and "screwing the world over so I can hoard more gold like Scrooge McDuck". Death and disease comes for us all, and if you make your money by taking advantage of people, God will make you answer for it.

Its sad, but not surprising. Working in healthcare, I talk to patients on a regular basis who are denied care. I talked with someone who needed a type of drug injection to assist with a chronic condition. Insurance at first denied it. Out of pocket cost: $30,000/per month for a once a month shot for 6 months. It was resubmitted and finally approved. Insurances and drug companies make a lot of enemies because of their treatment of patients.
