For everyone inquiring about why we kept the larger catfish, these are an invasive species in these waters and were introduced illegally around 15 years ago. The population has exploded and they are causing a decline in native species populations 👍....Thanks for watching!!
@kmontrose8883 жыл бұрын
So what do you do with them that's what I want to know? Do you just kill them? And what kind of catfish was it I thought it was a big blue and if so are you saying the blue catfish are the ones that are invasive?
@GunnFishTV3 жыл бұрын
@@kmontrose888 we ate them of course. We use the larger ones in a catfish muddle (basically a stew). Yes they are blue catfish and they are invasive to this body of water. Only channel catfish and bullhead catfish are native to this river

They are an invasive species here, they are eating all of our native fish. The more we catch out of the river the better chance we have at keeping our native fish. Limb lines and noodles are about the best way to catch them around here. On a good day/night you can catch anywhere from 100-500 blue cats anywhere from 1-125lbs., my personal best is 112lbs.
