People rag on Pam Bondi rightfully so but forget or maybe don't know that during her time as Florida's AG is that now senator Rick Scott was the governor and signed into law redflag, age restriction, and open carry laws and both of them are strong proponents for the safer communities act. I hate to say it that most of the newly elected as well as the old guard republicans are just as bad, if not worse, than the democrats when it comes to protecting and preserving our 2A rights.

I asked Rep. Hudson about this on last week's show. You should check that episode out. It isn't clear there's enough of a budget effect for it to qualify for reconciliation. But he didn't rule out trying it. -Steve

The courts have rules that a Felon can have a gun. The idea that they can't have a gun doesn't follow the court rulings. People say that violent crimes mean you can't get your rights but according to history, people didn't lose their 2nd Amendment rights over violent crimes, dueling was something that people engaged in at the time, it was frowned upon, but nobody lost their 2nd Amendment rights for life due to dueling.

Trump could probably rename (internal title reference) a department to DOGE by Executive Order without involving Congress. Creating a new department from scratch would require Congressional action and could not simply be done by Executive Order.

There are several pro-gun bills in Congress. We just interviewed Rep. Hudson about the congressional GOP's approach last week. You should check that out if you have a chance. However, the odds of getting a major pro-gun bill through the Senate with the current margins are fairly slim. -Steve

@TheReloadSite Thank you so much for bringing up the possibility of using RECONCILIATION to deregulate supressors to a member of Congress. For the longest time, I felt like I was just shouting into the void, never to be heard. I did watch that video with Rep. Hudson. I liked his facial reaction to the possibility of using reconciliation to deregulate supressors. I think he might actually look further into the reconciliation option to, if nothing else, at least pass the hearing protection act into law. Best wishes Stephen. And again, thank you.
