I'm from Texas and I can honestly say we do have A LOT of gun conventions here. Like one every month.

I grew up in Washington state (northern part of U.S) but moved to Georgia (southern part of U.S.) my freshman year of high school. My dad had always owned a gun, not like a machine gun, just a little pistol, but he never took it out or anything, just had it in his room in case somebody broke in. Gun culture is vastly different here in the south. Here, it's considered unusual if you HAVEN'T fired a gun. Since coming down here, I've had some gun training. This may sound weird to some foreigners, but shooting is actually really fun, and I've gotten pretty good at it.

***** not true. There shooting ranges where you can do clay shooting with shotguns or target shooting with pistols. My friend in Seoul took me last summer and we had a blast (pun intended lol)

I'm from the US and a normal greeting with friends is a hug and some of the more touchy ones is a kiss on the cheek. I walk around arm and arm with friends sometimes and nobody thinks anything of it.

I'm Italian, and it's really awkward hanging out with my American friends because they're so weird about any touching of any form. I'm used to kissing people's cheeks to greet them, holding hands with my friends...heck, I've watched my friends shower.

I know what you mean about the hugs! I Korean stuff I've noticed people who are not crazy close tend to stay away from contact. I have an overwhelming desire to go to South Korea, but I am pretty sure I would starve of "skinship" (man,that word rocks^-^). I love hugs and hand-holding and cuddles. I would pay someone in Korea to cuddle me if I got lonely. The first person to hug me would not be released until the hugs quota was filled.

There's a stereotype even in Texas that everyone owns a gun, but that could not be further from the truth. Really. I've lived all my life in Texas. I am pro-gun CONTROL and am a very liberal thinker, a democrat, currently enrolled full time in university, and I'm in an honor's society. I'm also not alone. My boyfriend of 3 years also feels the same as me and we have numerous like-minded friends. Just like Martina said in this video, I know that there are people where I live who have guns and hunt, but I have never even seen one in person. So just to reiterate, I am a Texan, I've lived almost 21 years in Texas, and I've never even seen a gun. Yes, conservatives and their ideas of guns are annoying and scary... but every Texan shouldn't be stereotyped like this. It's simply unfair. Me and my boyfriend and my friends are not brainless gun loving hillbillys. We are people who deserve to be treated as unique individuals. So yeah, just thought I'd give an alternate perspective.
@silverfinspy
@silverfinspy 10 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on where you live in Texas as well. Urban dwellers are much less likely to own guns, while every farmer I've met has owned at least a hunting rifle.
@Peachesandburbon
@Peachesandburbon 9 жыл бұрын
I don't really want to get into a political discussion but I did want to point out one quick thing in your argument. You said "Yes, conservatives and their ideas of guns are annoying and scary...but every Texan shouldn't be stereotyped like this. It's simply unfair. Me and my boyfriend and my friends are not brainless gun loving hillbillys. We are people who deserve to be treated as unique individuals." Since you chose to bring up being stereotyped I would like to point out that that is exactly what you are doing here by calling conservative ideas "annoying and scary" and saying that all are "brainless gun loving hillbillys" I'm a conservative and I don't own a gun. I am also a unique individual just like you and deserve to be treated like one just like you. It's "simply unfair" to stereotype anyone and that includes conservatives. Maybe there are some conservative values that you don't agree with and that's fine with me. There are some liberal values that I don't agree with and that's fine too but don't get into the habit of stereotyping people into categories as you might miss out on some wonderful people in your life.
@Whoisthis2003

M Sweet I know this is a super old video and an old comment, but I defiantly agree with you. I come from a conservative family myself and live in Oregon. My father owns and uses guns and I myself have shot a gun many times. It is defiantly unfair to label conservatives as unfair and scary. My father is very strict when it comes to gun use and safety. I have never once seen him act reckless with one. Just as liberals can get upset about being labeled and categorized(like many normal humans) conservatives do too and it isn’t fair to do so without knowing the person

I've never met any students from Korea before (who weren't raised in Canada) so I'll share something about Japanese exchange students that stayed with me. On the first day they came to school with me, they saw friends hugging each other as greetings. They seemed a little confused, but they realized it was a cultural difference. I'm asian and I used to find hugs really intimate and awkward between friends but I when I moved and went to a school full of foreigners, hugging became totally natural and a lot of skinship is done. I know this is almost 10 years old but I will say I laughed at the Texas part 😂😂 Maybe not all of us own guns, like my family, but I know my sisters husband's side of the family own guns since they go hunting. In my high school, we had specialized programs and the people in the law program were training to get their open carry license, IN HIGH SCHOOL. I think some of them already had it by that point but yeah, if that didn't scream Texas, then idk what will.

It really isn't that much more possible to see a kpop idol in korea than you would see in america's LA/NY. My cousins are actually friends with snsd- but its not like they can go out to eat whenever wherever because their schedules dont work together all the time. but i guess you actually do have a chance to see at least one idol, considering we have a lot of shows that usually happen in normal streets- like runningman, infinity challenge, kdramas, just regular kpop shows, etc.

For Switzerland, it's actually a law for all citizens to own guns. I live in the Sunshine state, out in the country, and my family owns a growing collection of guns. I have younger cousins (around 8 years old) that shoot guns. Up in Mississippi, it is natural to own guns, but down here in FL, where there are many foreigners and northerners, people tend not to be used to guns as much.

I'M A TEXAN AND I DO NOT OWN A GUN! However, almost every home will have a gun in it. Especially in the country areas/small towns. It's not just a "Come at me bro!" kind of thing, but a lot of the people here are old-timey and still have the western town mentality. A popular country song actually opens with "Our houses are protected by the Good Lord and a gun, and you might meet em both if you show up here unwelcome, son." My point is that Texas does have guns. Just not everyone in Texas has one

1. Love the T shirt 2. As far as 'seeing' a gun, its all about where you grow up. If you grew up in a City where gun laws were restrictive, sure you are likely to never see a gun, but if you grow up in a rural area, like I did, guns are very common to see. Btw Canada, Im in Maine so im right next door to ya!

Well. Housing in singapore has skyrocketed no thanks to a certain someone who has screwed up the pricing sheesh. But yes generally, it is small especially with the newer houses and as prices goes, it actually depends where you stay? If you're at the city area, chances are, condominiums can easily fetch at least $1 million and above as it is considered prime property. And some other areas in singapore as well (western end). And yeah well land constraint is one reason as well so *shrugs*

I agree with this and in fact, one of the reasons I've fallen for Korea in general is how people treat each other in ways that I was taught as a child were the proper ways to treat each other. Ways sadly lacking as I've moved to larger cities. It feels strange to say, but it feels a lot like home in that way, and I've never been there. Also, I haven't had a hug in literally years since my mother passed away. So I hope Koreans don't think Americans are all perverts doing skinship with strangers.
