Yeah, cool! When I used instagram, Bumblefoot posted a pic of a warehouse and someone had graffiti'd "ammo" on it. I commented "that's where they keep Slash", obviously not knowing about the upcoming reunion, B'foot would have. Someone deleted my comment, so I reposted it. It got deleted again so I said "Oi! What gives?!" Ron Thal replied!! He said it wasn't him, but the management. We continued chatting on insta for a month! He answered so many questions about all kinds of things including GnR stuff and that disastrous show in Dublin. The man is an absolute gentleman.

Hey Matt, how isthat book coming along? We're so excited to read it! I find Sorum to be a very interesting guy in all of this. He really seems to be the take no shit guy in all of this. In addition to the drumming I think he brought something GN'R needed. Somebody to stand up to Axl. Love Duff and Slash but history isn't chalked with stories of either of those guys speaking up. Is it?

Read Slash's book. He put up with a lot just to make music and tour. Slash didn't back down but just kept quiet a lot just to keep the peace.

He was never a true “full member” in the vein of what Axl, Duff and Slash were. He was always a member as an employee who was under a contract to play for them. And he was never really an Axl guy as much as he was brought by slash and duff

I have really mixed feelings about axl. On one hand, I feel like he gets a lot more shit than he deserves, and he was an incredibly talented and smart man. However, he was an asshole and he created a lot of problems. I respect that he got better after all he went through but at the same time it's kind of hard to like him sometimes

Axl is Bi Polar. He also suffered childhood trauma as he was sexually abused by a male relative when he was super young. So it explains a lot. I give him a pass.

At 1st Matt not featuring in the reunion was numbing... with that Im happy now he didnt... Matt's swagger is greater than it's ever been... Deadland Ritual live shows are far more powerful than the GNR reunion best of concerts. If Matt were part of GNR, he would be like Slash ... in his pocket jamming away thinking about his Christmas card list... Sad to say... Until GNR release new material as good or greater than APFD or UYI 1 & 2 .... VRs material, Slashes solo material and Deadland Rituals new material is carrying the hard rock torch*

Yeah this story isn’t totally accurate. It’s been confirmed by all GNR members that the stories being told are from a certain point of view and are foggy considering how much alcohol and drug consumption there was. Both Duff and Slash needed help on their books with the accuracy of their stories. Right off the bat Matt sorums doesn’t make sense. For instance when talking about when he was asking Axl which songs they were gunna start the show with, usually they started with its so easy or nightrain.Jungle has an entire intro segment in its self and the drums don’t come in for some time into the song. Especially live. Doesn’t make sense. Nightrain and so easy th drums come in almost immediately.you can’t start drumming Jungle with so easy or nightrain. Story makes no sense.

Matt is a solid drummer with a wide range - The Cult, GNR, the Rev. Billy Gibbons, and now Dead Land Ritual. I don't know him personally, but I imagine playing at that level and dealing with the different personalities/egos that go along with the scene would have an effect on the best of us. He is better off without GNR and GNR is no better without him. I wish him and his projects all the best.

Absolutely! And that one drum fill... you know the fill. Listen to... say November Rain and count how many times he does that. Adler was sloppy, killed the ride, cowbell, etc. Slash said himself in his book how important Adler was to that sound

My First singer in my first band was The Late Daniel MacMaster he has sang 2 yrs and became the singer for Jason Bonham he was incredible Singer Yhe best he did the first two Bonham albums and opened for The Cult when Mat Sorem was drumming..Dan said Mat was a Great guy and told me how Axl was a total conteol freak basically got GnR members to sign over the Name GnR to him then fired them all .Axle even asked Zak Wild to play and Zak was like you dont have any songs...as u can see Slash was the Catalyst of that band everything Slash has done after GnR has been successful ..Axles GnRwent like 20 yrs and no album i couldnt tell u a saon off new GnR album that would not be new .However I was surprised how well Axls vouce was on the Acdc he did a great job on that tour bailing out Brian he would have been my last pick but it was well done.he hit all the notes .Other than how he dressed he did acdc Justice IMHO OK Carry on Kids and Have a great day Mat Rocks

He was right when he told Slash the Snakepit singer sucked and he needed to check out Myles Kennedy. Saw him play with The Cult a few times and fill in for Mikkey Dee with Motorhead! Strange irony he waited around forever to find a singer in Velvet Revolver then Weilands problems stalled things. Seems GnR related stuff always held him up.

I'm sure Axel is a pain in the ass but he's the Joe Jackson who made everyone rich. He had the drive to make it. Of course he didn't do it alone and probably couldn't have done it without the rest of the guys. Adler and Slash growing up together. Duff would have probably done ok on his own but not to the extent he has. Same for Izzy. Axel is the good,the bad & the ugly but he got PAID. Matt is great. He had already made it when he got in GnR. I hope it happens again.
