I think she was only with him for a year. Erin Everly was the long term relationship. They broke up after years but she was pregnant got and she had a miscarriage then left him in 91. The woman sweet child o mine was written about, was in the video. He never married again. His relationship with Stephanie had more to do with him having g a close connection to her son.

The whole story is about all the things his couple went through... bad times after he cheated on her("lovers always come and lovers always go"), then she tried to forgive him("trying to kill the pain"), she got married to him("I could rest my head just knowing that you were mine, all mine") and then she died..(committing suicide? Sudden death?) or maybe love or his hopes died... "nothing lasts forever"... at the end he wakes up and goes back to her grave and realizes it is still real...

One of the greatest guitarists of all time and yes that is his signature look, which he still rocks to this day! 🤘 This song inspired me to pick up an acoustic & learn to play. The beautiful model is Stephanie Seymour, who was Axl's woman at that time. Seymour was one of the top supermodels ( you can see her in almost every Victoria Secret catalog from that era)along with Cindy, Naomi, Kate, Christy, & Claudia. If you get a chance, Please check out Slaves & Bulldozers by Soundgarden off of Badmotorfinger album(not a single)...Chris's vocals SO POWERFUL that they literally bring me to my knees. Like in a lot of Soundgarden, all 4 of Chris's magical & God-like octave ranges are displayed.
