@@ethandodd80 yeah I know because I'm in contact with those devs and make videos for and of that mod. Hyped about that project. They told me tho that the S&M campaign is more like working with scenarios rather than an open map. Multiplayer seems to be their main focus.

Pike and shot! Now just need a formation mod that allows fire by rank, fire and advance, and rank swapping, really would have liked to see your troops broken up into multiple regiments

You need them in a proper thin red line to maximise firepower. If possible actively command the first one or two volleys before they go fire-at-will. Might still get overwhelmed without artillery guns though

Reasonent : the aserai are ripe for bullying 5 minutes later the aserai take out more then half you troops after that you outnumber them 2 to 1 and they still take out a lot more then half your troops

Muskets in loose isn't how to use em, put them in a tight formation in a thin line your back men where useless so it was maybe 10% of your troops vs their whole army

Yeah in M&B WB musket mods I usually do smaller groups with 2 rows tight formation, so if they have to move to get shots off you're not looking at a whole blob of hundreds of men constantly moving instead of shooting.

as a weeb here, guns overpowered medieval weapons cuz u could field a whole lot more of troops than your non gun opponent cuz pressing a trigger is easier than swinging a sword or pulling bowstrings ma dude.

Guns mostly took over because it's easier to train people to use a gun than a decent bow. Another reason was the psychological effect of a giant fire and smoke wall combined with a loud bang. Early firearms where actually weaker than bows (regarding the penetrative power). The invention of certain formations/tactics (spanish tercio, swiss gewallthaufen) played a big role aswell and led to the development of guns that where stronger than bows but it took a long time for guns to take over the battlefields. Even when armies adopted mass gunpowder weapons there was a need to charge the enemy to stab them to death in close range. This practice persisted untill about the US civil war where a lack of "former battle tactics" led to the revolution of firearms. Sry for the wall of text and bare in mind that this is a generaization and maybe not 100% accurate.

I made a custom knighthood order in PoP that used guns, and I even modified the guns to fire two shots before reloading, double ammo use rate but holy hell, they are unbeatable. They kill practically all but the Noldor.

i always used the shadow legion i fought 20+ large parties of noldor using them i only had 100 of their heavy cav and by the end of all that fighting i only lost 20 of them

Started using this mod. Break up your muskets into two companies and then have like 30% cavalry to annoy enemies musketeers. Also fighting any nation that doesn’t have guns in their troops is very fun lol

To balance (for early firearms) - they can simply reduce the range & accuracy; add a reload animation; reduce damage against armored targets after a certain distance and; add a 40% chance of misfire after so many shots and weather conditions.

You know what'd be really cool is when Taleworlds figures out how to make up smaller regiments of troops for maneuverability in large scale battles, so that rather than having one big archer line susceptible to cavalry charges there is instead 3. Like the Napoleon Player commanding AI battles. God I loved that gamemode.
