Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of 22 “Magnum”, especially at civilian, self defense distances. It’ll easily penetrate all human bone, and burrow it’s way into vital, internal organs. Congrats on a very KOOL new revolver. 👍

Also have the LCRX in the 2 inch stubbie version, Major difference the extra inch makes albeit the 3 inch is a much bigger gun overall. Love the adjustable sights on the 3 incher. First, I enjoy your videos and thank you. Next, I hope you have better luck with this Ruger revolver than I've had with my Ruger SP 101 .22 LR. It has been in the gunsmith's more than any gun I've ever had. It's had light strikes, timing issues, ejecting issues, ammo sensitivity, and springs replaced twice. It is the last Ruger revolver I'll ever buy.

Lately I have been watching and rewatching your many videos. Last week my LGS had that very same revolver. I may pick it up tomorrow if it is still available. I have been researching.22 LR as one has been on my radar since before your daughter was born. I have been using a Ruger Single -Six since 1982. Nailing many varmints even several coyotes. Shooting D.A. is my thing and I am just now finishing a large batch of .38 spl for my many revolvers. I do own two LCR's for carry. The Single -Six is also .22 WMR capable but rarely used by me. Looking forward to content on your new piece.

It’s a cool caliber. I have been a fan of rimfires for many years. Revolvers offer much better versatility with respect to different loadings of various power levels and bullet construction as well. You will probably get a 22 LR in a revolver as well. They are most utilitarian thing you can own really. Thanks for the video.
@GunSam2 жыл бұрын
I like the .22 Magnum as in all practical sense, it is a revolver cartridge. I mean, it's for rifles and some semi autos but the attributes are mostly revolver ones, often sporting semi jacketed hollow point bullets.
@ironmikehallowween2 жыл бұрын
@@GunSam i generally use it in rifles. It’s a very capable cartridge in a rifle. I have tried about everything. Most of my ammo is 31 to 33 grains running north of 2000 fps. You usually loose about half of that in a pistol. Although i do have an auto mag that can reach 1600. The little magnum out of a rifle can do a number on most things.
@ironmikehallowween2 жыл бұрын
I don’t consider it a self defense cartridge, nor the 22 LR, but they can be forced into that role if necessary. But, they can do a lot of other things very well. Quietly dispatch raccoons, Possums, and weasels in the hen house without frightening the horses, shoot copperheads, humanely end wounded or seriously injured animals on the road without endangering those nearby by launching a 10mm against the pavement, hunt small game, practice, and a million other things. So, to me, everyone should have a few of them. When i am out and about, I often carry a Smith 34 snub with quiets, snake shot, and stingers all in the same cylinder and two speed loaders with Velocitors and Stingers. It’s amazing what they can handle in real world situations where larger more powerful cartridges would be detrimental. I carry other pistols for dedicated self defense purposes. And honestly, so should everyone else.

I bought the very same lcrx in the fall of 2022. Didn’t get three cylinders through it before I had problems. Thought I solved the issue, and put it away for the winter. Spring of ‘23, got it back out, and had problems again. Ruger had me ship it back. Their gunsmith called me from New Hampshire, and said they would replace it, but didn’t recommend my picking another 22 mag. They would send me any other caliber lcrx for free. I picked the.327 federal magnum, and have had no problems. That is sure some kind of customer service.

I really enjoy the 22LR LCR but one compliment is that sometimes when ejecting the spent casings the ejector will slip past the rim and leave behind a case, especially if you don't point the ejection rod/ gun vertical. The tolerance of the metal the sits behind the rim is marginal... Oh and it has a beast, but smooth, but yet beast none the less of a trigger pull.😆 Congratulations on your new score... God bless

considering how much of a unicorn that LCR in 327 is right now, I might just have to pick up a 3" LCRx in 22 Mag instead. Ruger's website lists a lot of LCR models as "unavailable" - maybe they're discontinuing them? I'd hate if they discontinued the 327 model before I got one.

Sweet! I feel your frustration about the Bobcats. I have two of them I bought back in the 80s. Even after new springs and a rolled pin, neither functions as reliably as I remember them. Could be 33-34 year old magazines but not sure I want to spend any more money on them as your new version was exhibiting the same problems mine have. Thinking that for small, concealable .22s, an eight shot revolver is going to work a lot better. You were hitting the steel with the Ruger, but the “magnum” roar was drowning out the ding.

Hopefully your marital problems with Taurus have finally been resolved. I have a 2" 856 that I did a trigger job on and can hit 6" targets at 25 yards pretty consistently. Would like to get it in a 3" as well. It's too bad that Ruger didn't go with 7 or 8 rounds in that LCRx, but you've made me consider it. I wanted to mention the Hornady .22 WMR defensive loads if you haven't tried them. I still prefer my LCR in .327 Fed Mag and it gets a lot of carry time. I have a couple Kimber K6s's, and the 4" is a really great gun and easy to shoot even with hot .357 loads. I can't hit much of anything with my 2" K6s with either .38 spl or .357 Mag.

I absolutely love my Taurus TX22 with it’s lightweight aluminum and polymer frame. I’m considering the purchase of the Ruger LCRX in .38, but i’d like to rent one at a gun range, to experience the recoil and grip comfort. My current steel frame revolvers are pretty heavy but recoil isn’t much at all. I seems you can have light recoil with a heavy gun, or a heavy recoil with a light gun.

That's funny you mention the Beretta Bobcat 21A. I bought one used and it was a jam-o-matic. I replaced springs, cleaned, polished, oiled, and spent a bunch of time to get the thing to actually shoot. It is all good now. But that silly gun. Ruger LCP Lite rack .22 was the same thing; a whole bunch of trouble shooting and spring replacement, and new firing pin, polishing, and it's finally all good. Meanwhile every single revolver I have in .22 lr or 22 mag just runs. Oh yeah, I just bought the Ruger LCRx 22 WMR today. That is the reason for my visit here. New Subscriber. LCRx 22 wmr is sicks clamshells in Jan 2025.

What was weird about my Bobcat was it ran flawlessly for like a month, if I recall right. Then all the sudden it never ran without non stop malfunctions. And yes, I properly cleaned and maintained it, cleaned before every outing. I really have no idea how it got so bad. I traded it in for about what I bought it for because the price took a jump on those little guns at that time.

Beauty! I like the grips, sights and exposed hammer. Really great in 38 Special for home defense, IMHO. What I like about the 22 MRF revolver is that you get 22lr rifle barrel velocity. Speer used to make 50 gr Gold Dot 22 Magnum. That load would expand to 40 cal from the little mini revolvers in the gel. Speer now has a 40 gr 22 Magnum. How about testing some loads in the gel with your new revolver? Great video.

Nice little revolver. You can't go wrong with a Ruger. I used to know a group of black bear hunters that used dogs and guess what they used to kill their bears? A 22 mag Ruger revolver. One head shot and they had meat and fur. The fur trade is dead here in the NC mountains but people still eat bears. I personally don't like bear meat, but whatever rocks their socks is cool with me. I do love deer meat though and I know from personal experience that one 40 gr 22 lr bullet in the head will drop one in its tracks. Underestimate a 22 caliber and it could be the last thing you do. Just saying. The 9mm ain't all that good either. You've proven that many times. I'll stick with a 45 acp and 357 mag. They have the stats to back up what they will do and have been doing since 1911 and 1935. Keep up the awesome videos and stay safe bro.

I've carried a NAA 22 WMR SA five shot for a number of years as a back-up belly gun to my Ruger SP101 .357 MAG DAO primary. Which leads to a question. I saw your video on the Ruger lcr in 22 wmr (3") and bought the gun for myself... I love it!!! I noticed that you later changed out the grips. May I ask why? I like the ones that came with mine, though they do seem to print a bit. Pollack

might want to get one for target shooting.

I wonder why Ruger does not offer this in the LCR with an internal hammer? Love mine in 327 Federal Magnum.
