You're one of the only reviewers on KZbin who has the balls to show us that you got a broken pedal. People are so afraid to upset the manufacturers of the products they're reviewing. I also appreciate that it didn't turn you off completely, and that you're still going to review the pedal when you get one that works, because stuff just happens sometimes. Major respect.

You might need a buffer if you have to many little true bypass pedals. The capacitance from the cable and the pedals will suck your highs. Maybe show us a cheap buffer? Only high end makers seem to make overpriced ones, maybe they make cheap ones. Love the channel!
@GunsandGuitars7 жыл бұрын

@CorbCorbin7 жыл бұрын
There are plenty on Reverb you can get used for $90 or less. If that isn't cheap, there are some for 40-60 but a cheap buffer from a discount brand might not keep your signal as well, nor stack with certain other pedals. Or you can kill two birds and get a Boss tuner, which have great buffers in them. It's the pedal you would most often see on a professional's board, often because of the buffer, as well as they can be silent while you tune. TC Electronics makes a tuner I've seen quite a few people with but I'm not sure if they have buffers.
@CorbCorbin7 жыл бұрын
Jack The muffin Forgot to mention, I used a Boss OD on my board for years because of the buffer. It was an OD that I could use as a boost or just a tad of gain for shape. But the buffer works in them whether they are off or on.
@martinkrauser40297 жыл бұрын
Mosky make buffers in this price range and size format. I tried their Mosky Dec Buffer/Boost, which is a Wampler decibel + clone. It works great. They also make a simple knobless buffer called the Clean Buffer. I will buy one and stick it under my pedalboard, because it fits. Their headphone amp arrived a dud, but I got refunded by the eBay seller. In general, every dud I ever got was refunded or resent no matter where I bought it from.

Gigging over the years I have also found another must that has nothing to do with pedals, but protection of your gear is a surge protector. I was at a gig back in 2005 and a power surged fried my Marshall Mode 4 amp head. Luckily it was under warranty and they were still nice enough to replace the head for me at no cost. Not every place you play at has the best power sources. Older places of bars are shoddy. Oh and I came back to tell you I bought the compressor pedal and its work pretty darn well for $18.00. The only difference it is name brand is called Afruaim. But its the same exact pedal it looks like. So thanks!

Once the mini pedals started coming out i was immediately sold(and i am usually the moaner that says things like "they dont make them like they used to"), however i bought a couple of moore pedals, i first had their analog delay and then switched to the reecho as i thought it was a little more versatile...i enjoy their size and the lack of battery compartment doesnt bother me, but the one negative thing i didnt anticipate is their usability "mid jam"... But on the whole its okay , as i dont jam that often anymore and for the few times i do, i still prefer a handy small little effect case over the usual overkill type board, amd i can get over their fiddly teeny weeny knobs...plus i wouldnt stomp on them as hard as i would confidently stomp onto my 20 year old DS1...but the price reflects that at least...

A couple years ago I bought a bunch of Joyo and Donner pedals off Amazon. 1/3 didn't work out of the box, another 1/3 created so much noise in the signal they were unusable. Of the ones left when I activated the Donner blues driver it popped so loud it blew my left monitor headphone speaker and would have blew my eardrum if I'd had them on. That's when I started to apply the "get what you pay for" rule to effects pedals. I've never had a single problem with mainstream pedals even bought used (so far)
@GunsandGuitars7 жыл бұрын

I have that Rowin Tuner and was super psyched about the size and price. The display is bright and huge. The tuning precision is not good, but it'll get you close enough to jam. I wouldn't use it for tuning before a recording. I gigged with it for 2 months before the display would occasionally freeze or not turn on. It would be fine for home or rehearsal, but it's not reliable enough for the stage. Replaced it with a Korg Pitchblack mini for $40.

I have a Maxon OD-9 and was looking for another Overdrive to use with the drive down and level up to goose other drive and fuzz pedals and picked up the Kokko Overdrive on Amazon. I A/B'ed it with the Maxon to see how it compared. While there was some subtle differences, in particular the Maxon had a little more gain to it, I was really impressed by how well the Kokko performed and it's fit my use better than I could have asked for from such a cheap pedal.

The rest of my new rig consists of (surprise!) most of the pedals from the other review. I'm so happy with them all that I'm actually ordering this overdrive, the EQ7 and tuner pedals from the other review, and the Rowin Flanger, later today. I'll be putting together a small Pedalboard that will (somewhat) replace my Digitech RP 1000 effects Pedalboard for guitar, and my Rocktron Utopia Pedalboard for bass. I'll still pack them for gigs when I need some modeling that these pedals can't handle, but these babies will be my main floor rig...at least, for now.
