Ideal fencepost setup is using hatches instead of bars to protect them so you can lower them to work on, then raise them to protect them. Also, I THINK, not sure, but think that even with the bar brawling book that makes you immune to drunk blur, grandpas moonshine still blurs you big time. It sucks because its really hard to fight, especially through your circles, when you cant see clearly and thats gonna make demos dangerous too. But the stuff is just so darn powerful! lol. Also, get health bars for critical resist and heal time iirc. They are pretty crucial to being a fist fighter in this game because as you experienced, the critical damage starts to pile up like that.

I learned from Liz (More2Me4Life) that we can get acid from the medicine piles as well - with the book of course. Same method: search the pile, back out, break the pile, maybe get the acid, still get the meds.

One trick I've implemented on my base designs to prevent zombies from clustering and getting stuck on the side of ramps and stairs are to line them with ladders, then they'll climb the sides without getting stuck and proceed up the ramp as usual

For pathing onto the stairs, I thing the answer may be to go for a pyramidal arrangement on the corners, so instead of coming to the end of the wall and doing left-turn, right-turn, get stuck under the stairs, they come to the end of the wall and there are stairs immediately there for them to climb. Might well need the wall extending a couple of squares to meet the pyramid corner, but that's simple enough.

About the most you can get with this alpha is around 650-700. Two alphas back I was hitting 1200. They slowed the rate down and made them spawn further back from where you stand. Used to be the faster you killed them the closer they'd spawn in - you could see them spawning right close by.

You should solidify the stairs to the back wall and add a diagonal wall from the current back wall to the stairs. This will get rid of the zombies sharp 90° turn before the stairs and really sure up that whole area

Would be cool in the next major update. The horde night loot bags should combine into bags. So instead of having 30 bags they combine to 10 or even 5. Could have a toggle option to have 10 bags combined can up the bags tier. Also add in a toggle to remove the time limit.

According to the mod, you get a lower crop return from the mower vs harvesting by hand. It is unclear if living off the land currently effects returns, he mentioned it as a future project. I want to sometime use this to make large fields of crops, add in the crop replanter mod and just go to town with farming. Be fun to max out the mower withh all the available mods.

Two days of using your base design coupled with my electrical offensive and defensive systems and I was bored on max difficulty horde night! Super wave of demos, radiated cops, etc., and I hardly lifted a finger! I did expend a lot of steel repairing/replacing the front position buffer plates though. That 300% damage with the damned cops HURTS! Time to add another 'softening up' layer on the approach!

If you installed the smooth pathing mod it may help your base pathing concerns. It allows them to move like you instead of chess pieces with inefficient paths.

Only thing i would change on the Pit is that i would carw out an exit towards the stairs leading up to the fighting position. So Zombies don't need to turn that much. This design was made in spirit of useing Grenade hatches anyway.

For those who dont know the reason he is using so much food is because he gets hit so often. Every player has a mechanic called natural healing. It works by healing you periodically at the cost of your food meter. If you don’t take damage, you will only lose food to exertion and time which is a much slower process. With steel armor its not really a big deal to be getting hit all the time, but you will use a lot more food than you would trying to avoid it. With healing factor the reason you use more food is because your natural healing heals you faster. Its a very good perk once your iron gut is maxxed. However, if you’re just gonna walk around like a tank and not try to avoid damage you better pack a lunch. Multiple lunches. And second lunch. And a couple dinners. Cans of sham wont cut it either. Need the higher tier food for the higher tier content, unless you avoid damage. You can supplement your over consumption of food by using meds. If you preempt your natural healing periodically with meds, your natural healing wont have to heal as much, and thus won’t take as much of your food meter. He does this but not nearly enough. I think nobody who plays does it nearly enough. Personally i have a problem of hoarding meds and only using them in emergencies. I dont think thats how they are meant to be used, but its a condition i developed from decades of role playing games. You cant take all that stuff with you when your game is finished.

Dunno if you'll see this, on paper and polymer Crack-a-book hq has paper rolls that are actually paper in the basement, and I believe the post office (tier 3/4)?? also had a few rolls. if you go through an area like the trailer park, garbage cans, and the larger garbage removal bins, are a ton of polymer, lastly, savage country, the manequins will give you enough polymer to last you a long time

I know this is going to sound random. But could you imagine if they implemented a sleep and bladder type thing you must maintain? It would make this game so much harder somebody should mod that. Is so on top of maintaining your water your food your body temperature. You got to maintain your sleep and also your bladder. It probably wouldn't work too well with a multiplayer because you would have to do what you do in Minecraft and everybody sleep at the same time. But single player. S*** that would be a challenge

I honestly don't like the bike ramps. I think you should expand the base out, have one door in and out (from the garage) for the bike and thus one ramp. And then convert the skylight from the garage into a landing pad.

You can increase the amounts you kill by using 4 or 5 M60's with drums and then empty them out, toss Molotov's while you reload all of them. You leave your fighting spot too much. Max out Iron gut, take three of everything on 18 hour days and those will last the entire night so you don't have to stop shooting them. Eat Sham Chowder for +1 fortitude and the sunglasses that buffs fortitude - those two give you +2. Don't use any traps because it'll slow them down. Don't use melee because that's too slow. Shotguns and sniper rifles are too slow.

SMG's don't have the mag capacity but they do have a better rate of fire - but having to stop killing to reload too many times isn't as good as having 120 rounds in an M60 and when you have 5 that's 600 rounds before you have to reload. Use AP rounds too with penetrator so you kill a couple at a time. The idea is to not stop killing them.

have you thought of using the "true pathing" mod? at least I think thats what it was called. It's been a while since I saw that mod video. It's the one that makes them use a more linear path rather than the zig-zag along grid lines path they default to.

Hey Tem, have you by chance checked out Vedui42 video on block damage, i know its from alpha 20, but as far as i can see, no changelogs or updates have changed these mechanics in A.21. i personally think it explains the damage you got through blocks. the bonus is, if this is still correct, you can still have you visually pleasing bases and not blocky. just to let you know, following his video advice, my bases do not experience your issues, the only thing to note, and im sure you know, cops and birds ( anything that can spit) really do not like hatches of any kind, they see through them. this explains why you kept getting shot through the floor in the earlier vids of this series.

I don't know if it would work but something I would do differently than you is on the ramp I would make just one ramp and as you like 3 defense possibilities (I usually only use one) I would make a kind of trident that would follow from the 3 exits like the ''O'' being the doors that in this case I would use 2 hatches facing each other instead of one door... / -O---- ---E - --O---- \ -O----

The iron door is the reason they are going through the wall to get around. Replace it with a vault door or get rid of it and drop down from the roof.
