Every time I listen to Mr. Jones..I always remember when I first heard it when I was in San Francisco..up late with my sister watching music videos… I turn 18 out there and I was just getting into listening to rock music… I instantly fell in love with the song. Still love it to this I day. I LOVE August and Everything After…I love EVERY single track on that album. Ages later I still enjoy it.❤❤❤❤

They had a run of three great albums, though Recovering the Satellites was the standout. This Desert Life had big shoes to fill and did a decent enough job, but Satellites was their masterpiece, pushing radio-friendly rock as far as it could go and showing that Duritz is one of the finest lyrical storytellers of his generation.

So I saw the Crows on the final night of that ridiculous 18 month tour they did in support of August... It was a make-up date in Toronto at concert club (Warehouse or Guvernment, can't recall). Anyway, Duritz was soooooo burned out at that point, he absolutely didn't wanna be there and everyone could tell. One of only two shows I ever walked out of in over 700 concerts, it was so bad. Adam was butchering his own songs as some kind of protest, and it was hard to watch. Was worried about him for a while after that, but so glad they came through it and are still doing great shows today.

Love this band! I'd heard somewhere around the release of this album that not only was "Mr. Jones" not supposed to be a single, but that the band didn't want singles, period. (Imagine that in this day and age, or then!) I'm guessing that the band wanted to gain fans the old-fashioned, word-of-mouth way:"Dude! You've gotta' hear these guys! They're killer!". Any band that doesn't want media help, especially when so many are DYING for such a break.....that's to be respected. To me, at least.
