Mr. Adam Duritz I truly hope you see this. I have been a fan of Counting Crows since I first heard Mr. Jones all those years ago. I do not remember now if I saw the video first or heard it on the radio first but what I do know is immediately it changed me for the better. I cannot overstate the power this song holds for me. I very literally became a better person because of Mr. Jones. I became more empathetic, more open. I wanted to be as funky as I could be. Apologies, I'm really having a moment. I have no idea what my life would have been had you never made that tune but I truly believe I would not be the person I am today. I have tried to live up to this amazing song every day. What is most interesting to me is no other tune has ever grabbed a hold of me the way your song did. I have lived a life of kindness and generosity thankfully because of your song. I have been open and free because of your song. I have impacted in many positive ways many lives all because of your song. It would take pages and pages to truly show or try to explain but please know Adam Duritz that for the absolute better your song truly influenced someone's life who then tried to pay it forward throughout their life. And I have been loved by many and for that I will never be able to express my absolute gratitude too you. Thank you for showing me a good path, this was never your intent of course but I am and will always be grateful to you good sir. This will most likely be the only chance I will ever have to express to you how this song influenced my life and to this day I have no idea why it affects me so much but it really is for me one of the all time greatest songs. I feel like Joe Rogan says it right, I saw the video and really I had that feeling, I want to be that....that free, that happy, that loved, that funky, lol and I can honestly say with your song as inspiration it is how I have tried to live every day. Thank you Adam Duritz. May you have many blessings and much good fortune.

Great lyric. The first time I heard Long December was the Live Forever/Long December (Oasis cover mashup) and I heard it as “the smell of hospitals in winter and the feeling that is all a lot of whispers and no words.” Which I actually really love as a lyric as well, even though it’s wrong!

It’s weird because I don’t normally think of Counting Crows as one of my top bands, but a couple of their songs hit me so deeply in my core in a way that is so rare.
