I mean they do make rifled bore 12 gauge shotguns, to impart spin on slugs n make em more accurate. Typically used for hunting, in small areas, with roads n houses closer than you'd see in big open country. For that, the projectiles are stumpy 1oz. Slugs that are grooved to match the pattern inside the barrel, a really powerful wallop and accurate for about 100 yards and in.. U Just swap out the rifled barrel to a smooth bore, and respective pellet loads for birds n waskawie wabbits.

I had one of these. The bolt is retained by a screw in the side of the receiver. Without that screw, it will just come out of the gun when you cycle it back. Somebody sued Sears because they bopped themselves in the nose, resulting in a recall where the bolts were sent back for a refund. As a result, many if these guns are still floating around missing their bolts. Apparently Sears accepted bolts for these shotguns in exchange for either a payment or maybe a gift card as late as the mid 2010s, although I'm fuzzy on the details.
@bryanphillips2443
@bryanphillips2443 3 ай бұрын
Not at all true. The actual recall states that the part of the receiver that holds the bolt in place during firing can shear and send the bolt back into the shooter's face potentially causing death. Only the 12 gauge model was affected. I have a 16 gauge model that shoots fine but I don't really shoot it any more as a safety production.

@bryanphillips2443 I had that happen to me. Luckily, it didn't shear completely off. It was bent up enough to cause difficult cycling, which tipped me off that there was an issue. It broke off with minor pressure once I pulled the bolt out.

I have my dad's Mossburg 20 ga. bolt action, and I absolutely love that gun. He gave me that gun when I turned 12. It holds 3 in the clip with 1 in the chamber. Best squirrel and rabbit gun I own. Back before my dad passed away, we went on a deer hunt, and instead of taking my 30-06, I told dad I was going to hunt with that 20 ga. in a dense area with a small creek running through it. I was using Federal heavy load slugs. And sure enough within an hour. I laid down a very nice 10 point that came out about 20 yards from me. I was so happy that day.

Fun fact, it's possible for the safety switch to become damaged in such a way that if its on safe it drops the sear when you lock the bolt turning it into a slam fire, and that switch can be easily pushed to safe unintentionally. Discovered this when my friend shot the range floor with one while cycling the bolt.
@terrybailey9621
@terrybailey9621 3 ай бұрын
Had that happen with mine but that was because the stock split and was applying pressure just right. It also won't go off unless you slap the bolt down because the bolt handle translates directly to firing pin travel like almost all other bolt actions. May have had to slap the bolt down to get a pheasant that day but hey it still worked 😂😂

He use to work at a recycling plant and found it in a part if the building that was not used because of all the clutter/garbage that the boss was working on cleaning out which was there when the boss bought the place. They had to stop selling these because the rear part of the receiver tube(where the safety is) is the part that the bolt locks into and accepts the recoil forces... except there's a notch cut out inside the tube for the extractor to run through, making the steel "wing" probably too weak. Meanwhile I'm slinging buckshot and heavy game loads in my 20ga bolt gun because it is an extremely tight patterning shotgun. It's oddly my go too turkey gun even being a 2¾ only along with my old Hercules ward single shot 12ga which is also 2¾ only.

@@terrybailey9621 I have another bolt gun that patterns tight but the bolt locks into the front of the receiver near the chamber. Much safer. This one locks into the rear of the receiver where the bolt handle is, the problem is the rear of the receiver is nowhere near strong enough to fire magnum loads out of.

I have a bolt action Mossberg in 20 gauge. My dad found it in a creek when he was a kid and carried it miles back to the house. It's actually a magazine fed and the mag is missing. It's an excellent squirrel and rabbit gun. I'd like to get it restored some day. It has a very rich and sentimental history.

Bolt-Action Shotguns ✅️ Pump-Action Rifles ✅️ Military surplus pistols (like C96 Mauser and Austrian repeater pistol)✅️ Now we need revolvers with separate drums to reload (like in CP2077 where you change the whole drum instead of each cartridge)😂

My uncle has a 12 gauge bolt action in my grandpa's gun cabinet that was passed down after my grandpa passed away. It's not in firing condition do to rust and some internal problems. Also is missing over 80% of the stock. I'd personally pay to have a gun smith fix it but I don't have the cash to do so.

The fault was that, if you didn't turn the screw that holds the bolt in place all the way in and did not complete the bolt's cycle, the bolt would come flying back and you may possibly require reconstructive surgery or some wires.
