I didn't know Chaser + Fire beat projectiles. Thought it was exclusive to lightning. Cool run. Over 2 decades later and this game is still fantastic to play and watch. To think SEGA almost never published it.

The Phantom was engulfed by the Chaser Fire during those slides. His slide won't deal damage under that circumstance. I take advantage of that several times through the run.

@khhnator The Flame Chaser may be cheap, but the Lightning Chaser is the noobiest you can ever get while ploughing through Gunstar Heroes.

I guess there's a reason why you're the top person on XBL for this game. By the way, what's the timing to get a 3 on the die each time?

According to Dr. Fatbody and Chrezm (who dove into the code of this game and was able to make a romhack of this game due to that) there is no timing as it's random. I use to have a similar theory that it was all timing based at exactly when and at what height you grab the dice at that would determine your roll.

@khhnator I don't see how the Flame Chaser weapon trivializes the game. It requires the most skill to use at its full potential. It may be extremely powerful, but full homing weapons are far easier to use, albeit slower.

@OptimusPrimeribs The majority of games are difficult to speed run well. Only a select few games have exploits in them gigantic enough to make playing faster and/or without damage easier than an average playthrough. Gunstar Heroes certainly falls into the former.

Hm. 37:24 doesn't seem like the accurate final time for this run based on my math here. Different timing method? It's supposed to end on fade out to black after final stage clear. Fun run to watch though. Not sure how you didn't go insane trying to grind out that level of luck though. There's alot even putting aside dice palace.

You want me to believe you cleared the whole game on expert without taking damage?!Even if you know everything by heart,even if you've nailed every strategy to the last pixel, that's extremely unlikely!Gunstar Heroes is extremely chaotic game with a lot going on at any given time,you are bound to get hit at some point!

i usually used the green+blue wep ... wasn't better ? does less dmg? or u using that coz u can deflect the bullets?

Noctina Tatakai less damage per second (by a significant margin as memory serves) and being able to erase bullets is huge in expert mode

oh the flame chaser, the cheapest weapon that ever existed. i probably have spend more time playing gunstar heroes than doing anything else in my life, thats how i know you do have the skills. but man how that weapon completely trivialize the game :P

Hey i don't know if you will ever read this but i'm right now practicing on my own Speedrun of this game and i just can't figure out how to do the dice glitch. Can you help me?

Old comment but since he didn't bother answering I will instead. You hold a diagonal direction, spam fire button and grab the dice. It'll glitch drop instead. Make sure you are mid-air when doing this. It also only works with flame chaser when using fixed Shot. However with free shot, pretty much any weapon combo it will work due to the firing delay.

I've owned this game for 16 years it isn't that hard after a few times through, can beat in on expert solo NP with barely any damage as well.

try playing on expert and see if you still think lighting chaser is cheap :D

If you knew you were running a no-damage run, why did you bother grabbing health? It's not a hugely significant loss in time, but it is lost time.
