The whole game is Hell for Akira. He started out as an extremist against Septima Holders, thinking they were all monsters...and then he ends up in a 100-year nightmare where normal humans get genocided and his sister is tortured for decades by Septima Holders. I actually wanted Akira to die at the end just so he could have some peace. I thought GV had a rough go by the end of Gunvolt 2, but iX is so brutal that I didn't even feel like Akira saved the day. Everyone lost so much that it felt like all the characters were just stepping into a future with nothing but pain waiting for them. Somehow all the Septima Holders live in cities that they can't leave, basically making them prisoners, humans are dying in ghettos, and I'm supposed to go "Woo! Akira lived and beat Asimov!" :/

Just so people understand how bonkers this is...your Dodge move in this game doesn't give you I- frames. Avoiding damage with it relies entirely on positioning and the angle, as well as timing of course. Avoiding hits in this series...I'd compare it to a bullet hell except the difficulty comes from not only the projectiles but also the restrictions and freedoms of your mobility. Dodging requires pin point precision, using a very specific set of movement tools. On top of that, touching the boss also hurts copen! Well done as always gellot, I can't imagine beating this game w/o getting damaged!

I just beat this after playing Gunvolt 1 and 2 and I always hate to say shit like this but I think this is a case where the spinoff is far superior to the mainline, I would even say this is the best Inti Creates title. I remember being floored when I beat Mega Man Zero 2 and 4 over how incredible the gameplay and plot was, but this floored me way harder. And it's nice to get an ending where the main character can actually catch a break, which is something the Gunvolt series lacks.

It appears to be Lola, which would make sense. Although these other suggestions of Mytyl COULD be true, the images I saw had green hair, while Mytyl had white hair in GV2. Lola however, had green hair.

Interesting possible theory: Demerzel was intended to be Gunvolt at the the start of iX's development. If you have a close look at Demerzel's poses as he summons his attacks, they're extremely similar to Gunvolt's poses during his SP skills. In addition, he also uses the same exact same sprite for Luxcalibur, and even has the feathery flourish that GV has (that Asimov doesn't have). Some of the story beats could be changed as well to reflect this: Gunvolt actually survives his encounter with Asimov, but goes off the deep end after killing Asimov. The Asimov you fight is a brainwashed hologram in his employ. Very possible with all the stuff that Sumeragi can throw out at a whim. Gunvolt found a way to digitize himself, thus becoming the "ultimate" Azure Striker. This goes in line with Copen/Acura noting that he fought Gunvolt a long time ago, and that his statement of "being old" also applies to Gunvolt/Demerzel. Considering that this was almost done with Megaman Zero (with Copy X intended to be the original X), I think this could've been the original intent.

Am I the only one that's disappointed by the fact that the boss rematches (I don't count Blade as they're like an unique boss for almost every fight) don't have any real dialogue? SPOILERS Considering the fact it's implied they're digitalized copies like the fake Asimov, the copies could have had some dialogue in an attempt to guilt trip Copen, but instead they're just... boss rematches with no more dialogue that explores their characters. Think of it this way, the fact that they have nothing to say shows that they are literally just puppets. In the previous games, they were either resurrected or illusions created from memories, so they still have their minds and personalities intact. But here Sumeragi stripped away everything they had, except the ability to fight. They aren't viewed as people or soldiers, they are just tools to be used and tossed away. Sure, the lack of dialogue hinders you from exploring the characters, but it shows just how inhumane this organization (or Asimov) is and how badly needed it is for Copen to take it (him) down for good. It speaks way more than the dialogue would have ever hoped to be. This is the "show don't tell" rule of literature and media, and it works. Sometimes less is better.

Everyone's comparing this game to megaman, but even though I've never played a Gunvolt game in my entire life, I think i can safely say just from watching this vid that Gunvolt is better than megaman, in terms of characters, story, style, etc. Almost every boss here feels relatable, interesting, and likeable in some way shape or form. I particularly like -and feel bad for, robobutler guy and his attachment to his master. The sorrow and rage he felt after she was gone ultimately waking his power. ;___; I'm a sucker for that kind of character dynamic.

...So this is a "What if" scenario, where GV died and since he didn't collect all the diamonds, didn't get the full support of Joule, meaning she didn't use her Song to save him on the first game?! ...That would explain Copen lack of rage then. You know, having passed 100 YEARS!!! AND THE PLAYER NOT KNOWING ABOUT IT, RIGHT AT THE START OF THE GAME!!! I am not sure why am I even screaming, but I guess I feel kind of cheated maybe. I mean, GV 2 wrapped it up well for GV story and how it seems there's no more adept organizations. But I expected more with Copen and the other kid to keep the story going some other way. Copen actually developing as a character and learning to be more receptive of Adepts. OK, done ranting now. Thanks for the video/gameplay and making me feel it seems too easy but probably gonna get my ass kicked

LAiX is a game that splits up the timeline of the first Gunvolt. In the first game, collecting all the diamonds gives you the good ending, which results in the second game happening, which happens not TOO long after the first game. Getting the bad ending in the first game (Not collecting all the diamonds and getting Joule's Pendant) Results in GV dying, and Sumeragi dominates the world with the help of Asimov. Fast forward 100 years, and you've got LAiX
