Making "The CUT"

Cut weight, not performance. The CUT is the latest edition of the Skunkwerks series of purpose-built, limited run rifle systems by Gunwerks. Built with the singular, obsessive purpose of cutting every possible ounce from an already lightweight ClymR rifle system without compromising on performance. The CUT is the result of a massive R&D materials project sparing no expense to engineer a super-tuned mountain rifle that shoots like nothing else in its weight class.
Our journey to achieve the goals set forth with The CUT quickly took us to new territory. Realizing our need to explore new, advanced materials, engineer new solutions to make weight and avoid compromise led to process, design and material breakthroughs that will serve as a springboard to launch future generations of Gunwerks rifle systems.

Hmmm, my Kimber 8400 in 300 WSM with a 4-12 Swarovski scope weighs in at 7 pounds. It shoots .5-.75 moa. I love what you guys have done with this rifle but I’ll bet it’s several times the cost of my Kimber just to save 1/4 of a pound?

It’s pretty hard to justify the price tag when you compare the two. Not bashing the build but man that’s a lot of coin for a .25lb loss!!

@@sav300 a Toyota corolla drives 65 mph. I've shot the Kimber, and it's a really cool rifle. So is the Ruger American. Similar weight. Neither gun compares in the shooting experience or the overall touch/feel experience. But then, not everyone drives a high-end car either.

@@aarondavidson2156 very well put and excellent comparison. I’ve personally experienced the difference between between a 20k car and a 200k car. There is no comparison. The same can be said for my custom rifle. While an off the shelf may do just fine, there is something to be said for a rifle that has 5x the money in it. Does the same thing, just better. I am definitely not against a rifle at these prices, just not the type that can justify thousands per ounce. That’s just my opinion.

@@sav300 I'm with you. I love all of these guns we put together, but I can't afford to own them all, and get a pretty good deal! When I pulled the trigger on this lightweight, it was surprising. The lighter weight has less momentum under recoil, and the muzzlebrake is able to affect the recoil impulse more effectively than a heavier rifle. I will own one of these....

Why would you use an AICS bottom metal and magazine when a hinged bottom metal will provide a significant (by weightweenies standard) weight reduction?

Yeah, this is one of those deals where the performance is the driving factor. 4 layers of that spread tow fiber is only 0.009" thick after we lay it up and compact! Its unreal light and minimalist!

Ya can still stalk in to 350 or closer. I personally dont shoot unless I am 100% confident of a clean kill, That means I get as close as I can, Its called deer stalking where I come from, that's just me. Doesn't mean the rifles not very cool

How is this a hunting rifle? The entire rifle looks like it belongs on the Talladega Speedway. There is no way you could possibly justify $13,000. THIS is the the perfect example of a GUCCI gun, Wildly overpriced for the same functionality or less then normal brands. The Swarovski of Rifles. Look a Weatherby Mark V Backcountry TI in 6.5 RPM is 4.9 lbs and $3349, add a Leupold Mark 3HD 8X24x50mm FFP scope wich is $700 and weighs 20.1 ounces, all together it weighs 6.15625 Lbs and $8,950 less than the CUT. Sorry Gunwerks but come on man! At least give it a camo stock or paintjob!
