Transmit audio on the G90 is in a different class than the Q900. G90 transmit audio sounds professional.

Two nice radios! Do any of these have an I/Q output or anything that you could use to pipe into and SDR program on a computer?

The Q900 V4 seems like a good option, but from what I have seen it has many problems, it is undoubtedly a lottery to acquire a unit that works well.

I found the audio from Q900 mic rather bad. So removed the speaker inside the microphone and used a MAX4466 module to bring the audio level up. WIthout the speaker there is ample space for a little 4.2V battery. To me the G90 is a serious and reliable radio. The Q900 does not offer the stability of the G90.

apparently you can control the q900 from sdr softwware ehich makes up for it's lack of rotary controls, and there's an app that works for it too. are the same true for the G90?

Nice features of these radios however, in a few years these will be obsolete as parts are never available from the Asia markets and the electronics in many instances are sub standard. The Bic lighters of radios.

@goinghomesomeday1 looking over at my 10 year old 7300 and a 1955 Halicrafters well I won't bore you with the rest of the list of still working vinage equipment but I completely disagree with you outside of the fact the Chinese junk won't last.

My comment was to bring to light that it is almost impossible to get these serviced once problems arise. Then add to the equation the cost of shipping back to China and one will see why they do what they do... pawn low grade junk on a susceptible nation. These are hit or miss radios.@goinghomesomeday1

To me the Xeigu is Chinese manufacturing done right. It is not the best radio you can get. But is is the best for its price point. The Q900 on the other hand points out how some Chinese company just did not do its market research to see what an export market might want INSTEAD of and IN ADDITION TO price. They planned a killer product but the actual implementation was very very far off. Simple things like the size of that mic. It is not good for our bigger American hands. Xeigu made theirs much larger. Another thing no VFO or other rotary controls. We Americans are use to rotary controls. And sooner or later those little foil dimple switches that back the push buttons are going to lose their "spring" and make the radio useless. Just to of many points that I could point out where a company just did not care or think about their customer base.
