Gur-e-Amir Tomb of Amir Taimur Samarkand Uzbekistan
At the tomb of Amir Timur, Tamerlane, Timur Lung, a Turco Mangol mighty conqueror and founder of Timurid Empire comprising modern day Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Lebnon, Israel, Egypt, Pakistan and parts of India.
Taimur was an undefeated military commander in the world history, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest military leaders and strategists. One can witness the tactics he used to defeat Indian emperor Sultan Nasiruddin Mehmood Shah Tughlaq in the battle of Delhi.
Taimur was great, great, great grandfather of Zaheeruddin Baber, the founder of Mughal dynasty in the subcontinent.
Amir Taimur died in 1405 when he was on his way to conquer China. He travelled through deep snow and frozen rivers towards China. He caught a cold and died on the journey. He was taken back and buried in Samarkand. On the stone was inscribed, “This is the resting place of the illustrious and merciful monarch, the most great sultan, the most mighty warrior, Lord Timur, Conqueror of the World.”
