It's funny how you switch back to English when stuck with the vocabulary, which sounds so much like everyday Hongkongers speech. And your pronunciations are so accurate that you are much better than many young native speakers suffering from lazy tones.

For the tone of lychee , coincidentally , the fourth tone of it , is the name of a Hong Kong artist called 黎姿(Gigi lai)

I'm one of those who came from LIHKG (連登) In the post which shared your video, many people supported you and upvoted, but there did are people who posted some racist comments (and the comment got some upvotes). LIHKG is a forum that might not be very respectful, in fact, the majority of the users are quite mean to literally everything, you might get to see it yourself after you've learned 漢字 better. But there are people like me who appreciated your work and won't judge someone by their skin colour, so yeah, LIHKG can be a shitty place, I would advise not to browse it if you're not ready to see the mean comments
@Guresu4 жыл бұрын
I had a feeling that there would be comments like that. It's sad, but don't worry, I don't take it to heart. Even if I wanted to browse through the comments, I can't since I can't read Chinese. Maybe that's a good thing, though haha

Hey Le grinoire, very inspiring to hear you trying to learn Cantonese too! 👍🙂. It's not that easy at the start, I'm into learning about other cultures and languages too. I know it's always useful to have nstive speakers of the language to practise with whenever possible, so I can practise some Cantonese with you too if you'd like. Although, I was raised in the UK, Cantonese is the language and culture of my family, so I know it pretty well. 👍🙂

Thank you for making the effort to learn our language, I am grateful. My boyfriend has been trying to learn Cantonese, but hardly any books available on Amazon (or otherwise in Kindle Edition, which he does not have kindle), I was wondering where did you get the book you are using? I would like to get him the book, so he can start practising. :)

Compare to foreigner, i think not many people above you in terms of sound and tone. But for native speaker, you are very good. Now you more need to learn through daily life in that language. You are right, those gaps might be kindergarten stuff, but you never experience it, u don't even know what u missing.
@luhahahan3 жыл бұрын
The most difficult thing with learning canto is to differentiate between the formal words (how its written in a letter, for example) compared to the "slang" vocabulary (what we say in day to day sentences). For example at 6:22 you say "ging serng" which means "often" but since the rest of your sentence is more "slang" it would have been smoother to say "seng yut" "seng yut" directly translates to "all day" but in day to day chit chat it is used as "often"

Excellent👏👏👍👍 I don't know much about phonetics but the tones and how the sound is made could mean a big difference. Like 荔枝 vs 黎知,蜜 vs 墨. Anyways, I had been corrected by my friends a few times. Like 牛、廣(講)、國(各)😌😌
