yo, I love K-Pop and all but I feel like you would love South Korea’s R&B and Hip-Hop/Rap side as well. While K-Pop is all about huge production and “hit in your face” kind of music, the R&B and Hip-Hop scene is more “rough” and personal (depending on the subject LOL). Since you’ve never checked out R&B SK artists, I think you should start with - 1. *Dean* (“instagram” or “Bonnie & Clyde”) 2. *Crush* (“none” or “Nappa”). - They’re both R&B singers who are NOT part of the K-Pop industry (despite what everyone says) but perhaps the most popular R&B singers atm. Their lyrics are deep, you may start theories with Dean’s “instagram” btw. As for Hip-Hop, I would recommend - 1. *pH-1* (“Cupid (feat. Penomeco)” or “Malibu (feat. Mokyo & The Quiett)”), 2. *BewhY* (“Challan” or “Gottasadae”) 3. *Penomeco* (“Coco Bottle” or “Good Morning (feat. Car, The Garden)”). - They’re quite different from each other but they’re really good. pH-1 has a laidback American style (as he’s himself American but he raps in Korean), BewhY is just a rap machine (not kidding, he’s got lungs) and Penomeco is more like a chameleon, as he changes his voice tone very easily (to the point where I sometimes don’t even recognize his voice lol). Also fun fact : Penomeco wrote the second rap part in EXO’s “Tempo” + “L.I.E.” is the title of one of his songs.
