My record collectors club brought this band to Chicago in 1979 for some gigs. Was a great time hanging out with them. The perfromed at several clubs in the area and at the Eagles in Milwaukee.

You know....everyone always talks about the earlier versions of this band (and rightfully so), but I really like this period as well. This line-up was a really great one, and was possibly the most musically talented of all the line-ups.

We had our own Zappas back then, and still there are fans of "alternative music". "Zappa is not dead, he just smells funny"

Maybe zappa has a bit of a Guru Guru touch

I especially like the parts where the saxophonist and the guitarist play in unison or the same rhythms in thirds. There's a Steve Howe shimmering quality that they have in their solos.
