Nice video. Much is made by Preston etc about their hooks to nylon and the quality they have magically now got from their eastern supplier. Let me take your viewers back to my youth. Back in the 60's I always bought hook to nylon. The quality was always superb (in my opinion). These hooks to nylon were not tied in the far east but in your local town by outworkers. Money kept in our local community and quality second to non. Just my opinion.

Off topic Scott but how bigs your shed ?does the plastic sheeting contribute much to the insulation thinking about insulating my shed with rockwool or similar and plastic sheeting over the top.

Hi mate, it's 6ft by 7ft and the plastic sheet was to keep the back half dry as I used to do hydro dipping in there.

Exactly what I do Scott, love the semi bolt effect, just got to find the right sized swivel as some are too tight , needs to be just right for fish safety.

Absolutely agree, fish safety is number 1

I found using the original x safe tubes without the quick change link also created less problems.worth a thought.

Cheers Paul, I keep changing and tweaking things and since then I've had no issues

Had same issue pal, stopped using them after that. Switched to the drennan method bandits haven’t looked back

Drennan are good mate, I do use a lot of matrix hooks and never had a problem either. Tight lines for the year

did you fish both ways with the rigs to made your self ( before and after the changes you made ) and did they snap on you or not ?
@Scottsoutdoorchannel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I tried both ways with other brands too and never had an issue, just the Guru ones failed, but since fishing with them differently they've been ok.

The lead is not the only thing that hooks the fish. Many anglers including myself have switched over to running rigs as they certainly hook more fish than a semi fixed lead. The recent underwater videos have proven that more fish are hooked using a running lead as fixed leads are used by the fish to eject the bait the second the lead leaves the lake bed. A running lead lays on the bottom of the lake bed throught the fight so there is no pivot point for the fish to eject the bait using the lead. Also with a fixed lead you have absolutely no clue what's going on at the bait end. Countless people are being done by fish and don't even get a single indication on the rod tip or alarm. We've all had the classic case of a fish picking up your bait, swimming around the lake with it then ejecting it somewhere completely different and the angler is totally unaware until they reel in and find the bait in a completely different place to where they cast. If the swivel or bead in the feeder is fixed just tight enough, the weight of the feeder hooks the fish and as it shakes it's head to try and shake the feeder the swivel should release and allow the feeder to free run down the line and sit on the lake bed which sseems to best scenario. As for the QM1's, they are my goto hook for method fishing and I'm yet to lose a fish whilst playing it but I do tie all my own rigs as I need that confidence knowing I can trust put my trust into them.

yeah, you've got to tie your own rigs especially for match fishing

Not just me then Great hooks but when pre bought on hooklengths they are poor to say to say the least ... Moved over to mcm b from preston but tie all my own ..

@steveellerby69862 жыл бұрын
Never had issues with guru , its also best if you can cast so when you get your rod down you can get a couple of turns on the spool so your not tight to the clip, see John arthur
@Scottsoutdoorchannel2 жыл бұрын
I never fish tight to the clip as your just asking for trouble doing that

Are you able to use the QM1 hook on pole rigs?

Yeah, I've used them on margin rigs without any issue

You can use them but there are better pattens. QM1 is designed for feeder fishing, wider gape patterns work better on pole rigs.
