Better Call Saul did an incredible job when they had Gus Fring carrying a handgun after he found out that Lalo was not dead. Gus was a man who hired men with guns, not a man who had to use guns. This literary TV show portrayed the discomfort of this vengeful drug kingpin very well. I can't imagine a writer conveying this better in prose.

I think Gus' only goal before killing Don Elado was revenge. With the amount of money spent on building the lab, paying full wages for the German guys, losing a ton of money to the DEA, and letting chemicals expire because Jessie won't cook, he was presumably breaking even. He's also willing to work with Walt, a man with a reputation for acting WILDLEY unpredictable. Despite his pride, Gus HAS to have realized Walt could threaten to shut down his entire operation. I think he put everything on the line for the chance of revenge

I'm sure Walter White violated several of these laws...
My guess, using the only available hints and tying them in to actual history- Gustavo Fring , “El Generalissimo” was a member of General Augusto Pinochets’ intelligence/ security police during the time of Chilean Military Junta. They were linked to and used ex SS officers who fled to South America after ‘45 . Colonia Dignidad was a training centre for the Chilean Secret Police who were instructed by ex Gestapo/ SS /SD . This may explain the connection with Ziegler..having to leave Chile after everything came crashing down for Pinochet and whatever happened in Santiago which again is hinted at . The way he holds himself, his use of psychological warfare..it’s all there. The Junta were nasty people irl and you can read about their horrific reign and they would have had many many Gustavo Frings. Fring is possibly an alias as the DEA could not trace him.
