In this episode we will evaluate the answer to the question, how Machiavellian was Walter White, aka Heisenberg, by following along his journey into the underworld through five stages.
His personality and initial attempt to enter the drug trade, his short time with Tuco Salamanca, his second attempt on his own, his time with Gus Fring, and his final attempt at being the top guy.
Breaking Bad episode.

Agreed. He was always Heisenberg since episode 1. He just hadn't embraced his role for criminality until he let Jane die which was his most defining moment and a truly Machiavellian move.

I disagree. The makings are there, but one scene shows he wasn't always Heisenberg. Im pretty sure Im gonna make an episode out of this, so I wont get into it here, but thats definitely one of the views that I would evaluate. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!

He was always that individual. The show gives us numerous hints at it. The Walt we meet in the pilot is the transformation. It’s Heisenberg after multiple legit avenues failing due to his innate egotism and as such he’s transformed by resignation. The cancer diagnosis allows him to shed that and the drug business turned out to be the ideal business for his various traits.

Who’s more dangerous Walt or Tony? If they were committed to killing one another who would pull it off?
@michaelfetter5413
@michaelfetter5413 10 ай бұрын
I'm imagining a scenario where they simultaneously get an alert, "He is trying to kill you, you must kill him." If you look at determination to live and to accomplish the goal, I think they're equal. Speed of action (i.e. jumping right on the task) I think they're equal. Tony has more help than Walt, which could be huge, and Tony could definitely destroy Walt if it got to close quarters or physical contest. Walt's advantages are his knowledge of chemistry, and as the finale shows us, ability to rig traps/use devices. Walt might end up using a poison gas or something Tony would have no access too. I think where they are different might even out. So next you have to think of who would have the high ground. i.e. would Walt try to kill Tony outside the Bing, or hope to lure Tony to his house, or bait him out? I think Walt would want to be on the defensive if possible. I think Tony would have better access to reconnaissance/intel on where Walt is, as well as hold a better perimeter than Walt. Once you penetrated Walt's perimeter it might be dangerous, but Tony has more other men to use to help him. I give the advantage to Tony because of his crew, and how immediately he can access them. Walt doesn't own Gus's men, Mike isn't willing to die for Walt. Christopher would probably be willing to kidnap Walter Jr. and Skyler or something if that's what it took.

I think Tony. If Walt had Tony's resources I think he'd win. Much more decisive and intelligent. Hand on hand fight, Tony would split him in half.

They are different kinds of danger I think. Tony is a brute force kind of brawler with a lot of resources, and muscle. While Walt has used his genius to help him defeat much stronger people than Tony. Such as Gus. And as cool as Tony soprano is, I don't think you can even compare him with Gus

Before watching, almost not at all. He completely fucked up his relationship with Gus and traumatized and abused Jesse which brought him down in the end. If we're comparing, Tony did a much better job keeping Christopher close and trying to keep him loyal.

I respectfully disagree with the bit about Tony. I think this video shows that Tony didn’t do a good job keeping Christopher close kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWLLdnqEr6t3fNksi=_Z_4nufM84fx_f9k That said, the reason Christopher doesn’t kill Tony is that he’s afraid to kill a boss (which, you know, better to be feared if you ask prince match a vell)

I always saw Walter as a true machiavellian, putting his genius intellect and strategic thinking, also his planning which is 10 steps ahead of everyone and aboslute cunning, he honestly perceived that his actions were perfomed in the greater good, be it if he justified that it was for the good of his family or otherwise, he always justified his immorality by claiming that it was for the best and that the result of said action is positive and beneficial for everyone.
