I watched the Graham Anersley review and a similar question was asked and I'm still none the wiser. The captains challenge rules are not clearly understood. To me a "decision" by the ref has to be made then the captain can challenge that decision. In the Tigers game, what decision was made by the ref? Imo this rule still hasn't been cleared up. Can you challenge a lack of a call? Or Does a call need to be made? Here's the thing though. The whole reason the bunker exists is because commentators like Gus overanalysed replay after replay of bad on field ref calls, game after game, year after year, heavily criticising the refs. Now that same bunker, that THEY led to having implemented, is proving that it too gets it wrong (regularly), they criticise the bunker and now there's calls to get rid of the bunker. F'ing hypocrits. Get rid of the bunker (and 6 again garbage) and just let the ref control the game, and just accept that refs sometimes get it wrong.
@daleviker58842 жыл бұрын
@ Netwarrior 67.. You are 100% correct that people have forgotten that the reason we HAVE the bunker is because a-holes like Gould used to whine on and on about any error they found. So we got in goal touch judges, then video replay, then the bunker, then captain's challenges etc. But they still whinge because if they didn't it would be clear they have no idea what else to talk about. Our "experts" on the game are so second rate. Every other sport has refereeing errors, but no one beats the game up the way these little men do. If you get rid of the bunker and go back to just letting referees make the calls it will barely take ten minutes into the first game before Gould and the others blow up about a mistake made by the referee. People just need to harden up and accept that humans will inevitably make the occasional error, and there will never be a perfect system. If people can't handle that then sport is not their thing.
@richardrea27352 жыл бұрын
@@daleviker5884 They whined about it in the hope that when the bunker did come through it would be an improvement. No one expected them to be making dumb decisions over and over again...The Bunker idea is good it's just the people who are running them and making the calls have lost the plot on it and it is not only the "experts" thinking this. I mean we are in the crowd or watching it on TV and see the same thing and then you hear the bunker refs call and you go scratching your head. If it was run better, no one will be whining about the bunker at all. The rules interpretation in the bunker differs from one to another and depending on the emotions and "entertaining" expectations at the time. The bunker is serving its purpose - using technology to capture everything including obvious errors on field, but the people running them seem to be going the opposite direction.

Take away TV rights, take away the cameras and this doesn't happen. They always forget that they luxury job they are lucky to have, has the same root as the bunker. Case in point, in this very video they comment on Val Holmes being offside on the kick off. It wasn't worse than the '6 to go' fiasco that screwed Canberra in the final minute of A GRAND FINAL. I have lived and loved this sport my whole life but sometime in the 2010's the referees got too whistle happy. Bunker decision every two seconds. Captain's challenge. We are calling a play back that happened a minute ago. A team scores, the referee calls it and then it gets reversed, the referees are terrible

I like how Feldt was laughing at the bunker and ref. Probably he was saying what a bunch of losers.

I left some years back. This is not rugby league, its now a game where players milk penalties all the time. Bunker should only rule on tries. Leave the game to the referee.
@tonytravert99442 жыл бұрын
This is a result of the Saints game where Hunt lashed out at a dummy half from an offside position in the last second, and the referee did nothing but blow for time.

The points should be split and between both clubs 1 point each . And let it be done with. .

this is what happens when you build a game around gambling
@daleviker58842 жыл бұрын
There is gambling on every sport in the world, and there always has been. Gambling on NRL is no more or less than gambling on cricket, NFL, soccer, AFL, basketball, whatever. Toughen up princess.

@sassasins0312 жыл бұрын
Both players were attempting to finesse the rules. You try and cheat and it might go against you or for you.
@jimijackson2 жыл бұрын
They need to get rid of try reversals. Once the ref blows the try, it should be allowed. If a ref calls no try, a team should have the option to challenge. Other than that, the bunker is ruining the game. Now when we see what appears to be a try...it's no longer a try till the very last second when the kicker is trying to convert. Shouldn't be that way and kills the excitement of being in the moment as a try is being scored.
@peterjongsma27792 жыл бұрын
Right . I see what happened. A Cowboys player took a dive and claimed he was taken out of play. The Cowboys challenged and the Ref sent it to the Bunker. The Bunker upheld the challenge and the Cowboys got the Penalty. BS decision by The Bunker.

Who really runs the game?? The nrl or the betting agencies that would have lost a squillion if the tigers got up. It's a no brainer.

It was a straight out milk. It is an awful blight on the game. Feldt was sniggering afterwards. Gus is right. I love how Gus and Gal still sound like they are arguing even when they are agreeing!!

No Gus..th worst I've seen in that loophole you found that allowed a Penrith player, who assault a member of th public, a Penrith patron, and was allowed to play in the Finals and grandfinal.. You are th worst I've seen Gus! You are a detriment to the integrity of the NRL.
@jellis18072 жыл бұрын
Gus and company carry on about this because it's a Sydney-based team that's been dudded. They criticise this as the worst decision ever despite the incident earlier in the year where a Warrior players faked a head contact by a Raiders player. The video referee reviewed the play and confirmed a penalty to the Warriors, gifting them a win, yet replays clearly show there was no contact. Not minor contact but ZERO contact. In my view, the Warriors player should have been sighted by the tribunal and fined, if not suspended, for unsportsmanlike conduct and bringing the game into disrepute. This Cowboys-Tigers debacle is bad, but the incident simply isn't as bad as the Warriors-Raiders incident earlier in the year.

I get that it was a bad call and cost the Tigers the W. But on the other hand, its sports, bad calls happen. This isnt the first time something like this has happened and wont be the last. Its a regular season match, move on and get ready for the next game. Its not like it was the Championship game with everything on the line.

The captains have ten seconds to challenge so the ref will now have to blow the first whistle the wait for the ten seconds then blow full time? LOL

Why is the NRL prejudice against teams on the bottom of the season’s ladder? It is because they don’t want to pay out larger winnings to punters. Now the NRL quickly needs to just distract us from scrutinising this topic, and as usual on queue! literally the next day the NRL causes a convenient “stir” with the Manly jerseys!
@fredfish43162 жыл бұрын
The stink when a dodgy call goes against a Sydney team. Melbourne, NQ, the Broncos, Canberra, etc cop bad calls every game, including in grand finals, but we never get a call to reverse the final result. It should be SRL not NRL.

Plus they gave the shot at goal from 5 metres closer to where the "penalty" took place. Why can't the NRL ever overturn anything? It's just rubbish, nobody's gonna be upset if they give the Tigers points.
