Quickly on the fact vs theory disagreement. A scientific theory is different than what people use theory for colloquially. Scientific theories are different from hypothesis in that they are more of an amalgamation of facts that together form the theory. For instance the germ theory of disease or the theory of gravity. The existence of gravity is a fact but all the facts of such together form the theory of gravity. This argument often comes up when it comes to the theory of evolution with people arguing against evolution citing that it's "just a theory" not understanding that scientific theories are the pinnacle of scientific understanding. There are NO instances of theories "graduating" to facts.

These outros and intros are the way they are meant to be. 55:20 fwiw regarding that whole rain/drizzle/mist thing - in official terms but avoiding nerdy sciency ones: Mist isn't precipitation, think of it more like "light fog". it's the same thing (tiny ass droplets suspended in the air), just not enough to really restrict visibility too much. I know a lot of people will object to this because colloquially mist is used to describe extremely light drizzle and that's fine, but officially by definition; it's not. The official difference between drizzle and rain is the size of the droplets. Tiny drops = drizzle; Big drops = rain. Both are qualified with intensities of light, moderate and heavy. Light, moderate, and heavy drizzle is distinguished by how much it restricts visibility. Rain on the other hand is often distinguished by how much is falling. Heavy rain is the highest it goes. Personally I say 'pouring', 'deluge', 'fuckton'. Those work. All of this is detailed in govt doc for weather observations, FAA 7900.5e. You're boy here is a certified weather observer.

After we saved everything on the floor and dried the whole place as best we could, I was left as the last guy to finish up just what was remaining in the tank before I headed to bed too. Shopvac, to plastic totes, to out the door 25 feet away, then back before the vac was full again, that stuff is AWFUL. Long story short, I was there for 16 hours total all night long. My mother didnt shut off the well fully. I ended up draining the whole well and giving myself a back injury from those totes of water. cleaning a flooded basement just NEVER go off without a hitch, i really feel for you man. At least it's not as bad as those poor saps that get flooded with sewage.

A theory is the highest distinction in science for a system of ideas, and is essentially a working fact in a given field. It has to be extensively tested and peer reviewed. Think "the theory of evolution". Many people get these confused with hypotheses, which are much lower on this scale and have limited evidence.
@FullThrottleAxolotl13 жыл бұрын
As far as my thoughts about the airplane window thing, absolutely take off and landing open. I do usually keep it closed during flight, but I pop it open when I’m bored and just gaze in awe at our planet, even if there is t much to see. Plus I don’t fly a lot so, it’s kind of a big deal when I do so, I always take it in. Plus I love aviation so yea. But I’d say 80% of the time I keep it half way or fully closed.
@shankshershanksstewart96103 жыл бұрын
Hey so ... You guys don't know how toddlers work and I just warn you to not be judgemental towards parents with toddlers having a meltdown haha. I definitely agree that that family on the plane sounded horrible and I really think it's important to teach/discipline your kids but even the best parents have toddlers who will have tantrums in public. It's literally a part of having a toddler and there are books on books about what you should do about it because everyone goes through it (but they should be able to handle it differently than the people on the plane.) I guarantee you you all had toddler tantrums you just don't remember lol. Everyone was a lil whiner bb once!
