Same issues here. I threw four or five different shields at the bike with no luck. Ended up with a Road Warrior fairing, 13” vented and while not perfect, is the best I’ve found for this particular bike.

So many people have tried heaps of options. So far the only reliable option seems to be without a windshield altogether

is it possible to put a street glide fairing on the sport glide?
@RidesForDays6 ай бұрын
I would say no considering that fairing is designed for a touring bike even though it's not frame mounted it could be too heavy. But I could be wrong.

Picking up one of these bikes next week. Saw your 5000km review and enjoyed it. This will be interesting re: the screens. Subscribed.

Awesome mate you will enjoy it. I wish you all the best with many happy kilometres 🏍🏍🏍 good to have you on board

All you have to do is add the Gustafson lowers.(fastens to fairing) Put with your Gustafson vented buffeting solved. Good coverage life is good. 23k miles it’s a great combo.

People are also saying they are getting after market road king hard lowers go fit on the softail engine bars with minor mods

You've been fighting this for a year haven't you? I got a Road Warrior 15in for my FXLRS and there is still a lot of buffeting up top. I don't think there is a perfect solution without getting your FOV below the screen unfortunately

Have you tried the Gustafsson 15”?

Just the Gustafson which was modified a bit

@@RidesForDays I did see another KZbin video with an FLSB w/15” Gustafsson. The gentleman seemed to like it, but I read others on your channel who weren’t happy with it. I’m coming to the realization that there just isn’t a good solution. I like your thoughts on just riding the bike w/o the fairing at all. BTW…I’ve done several upgrades to my bike that are similar to yours. I just added the mini apes after riding a year with the 6” pull back risers.

@@RidesForDays my FLSB is still in the shop but I should know hopefully within two weeks. Sitting on it the bars don’t seem a whole lot higher than the stock bars w/6” pullback riders. But it looks 100% better 🤙🏻

I’m beginning to think Harley only makes the two sizes for a reason. Maybe they’ve actually tested them? I’ve never bothered trying other windshields because I’ve never really found a positive review of one. The stock windshield puts the air mostly on my neck (a small bit on my upper chest), which is the narrowest part of my body. I get buffeting with it only at high speeds (>75 mph), and even then, it’s only on windy days. I thought about Gustafson since they are just up the road from me, but to get true wind deflection, you’d probably need a giant windshield and lowers (Gustafson makes the lower deflectors that attach to the fairing), which just become downright ugly. So, thanks to videos like yours, I’m going to continue to not look at windshields. I will look at pulling the fairing off more often though.
@RidesForDays2 жыл бұрын
Yes this is where I'm at too. I would like to have given a positive review but my experience wasn't positive so I couldn't. Anyway there is something enjoyable about riding without a windscreen 👍👌

I started with the 15" Gustaffson and it sucked. Tried blocking off the vents and it made no difference. Ended up with a custom cut 1/2 moon shaped 5" screen and it actually worked great, Helmet was in clean air, but ended up with lots of wind hitting the top of my shoulders which was okay, but felt the screen looked too small on the bike. Tied an 8" slip streamer and it was no better and no worse then the 15". So ended up with the 12" Gustaffson and the side defectors. Nope still sucked at high speeds, but I liked the look of how it filled out right across the front. So I had it reshaped slightly and cut down to 6". Now the front looks good with the windscreen and the side deflectors and it is about the best that I have had. Still a bit of buffeting at higher speeds, but manageable and I did a 2600KM round trip on 5 days with average speed of 90KM's and was good enough. So I have decided enough $$ spent on windscreens now and will stick with the current set-up. Plus I have read others say that a helmet style change can make a big difference also. I should send you a picture of how the bike looks now. Recently I changed out to the Saddlemen SDC seat with the minijack rest and what an awesome seat. Love the mini adjustable backrest. and the seat looks great on the bike. Turning the mini Kuryakyn foot boards into "highway pegs" attached to the crash bars has been a fantastic, dare I say game changer also for comfort when riding any type of distance. I have posted a couple pictures to your IG page via the message option. If you want other pictures and also pictures showing the screen measurements and a better angle of the foot board highway peg conversion, send my your email via an IG message.

Hi mate I got your photo. The seat looks really nice and comfortable also. Nice colour too👌 I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the floorboards as highway pegs if you get a chance

It’s a dark art. I’m currently using a Windvest screen and Saddleman seat on my Slim. No combination I have used, between OEM / aftermarket windshields or seats have truely solved the issue, and some are much worse than others. I even have lowers fitted, and yes that has helped, but still hasn’t eliminated. The worst set up is my Saddleman and OEM windshield, my helmet gets this hammering effect, it’s unrideable. The culprit it the air from below, coming up around the tank. If I put my hand over the end of the tank, there is no buffeting. Solve that, and you’ve found the Holy Grail. Or run naked like God intended. Good in summer, burrrr in winter on a big tour

Yes it all seems too hard to fix...as you say ride without the screen and it'll be one less complication to worry about

Tha lowers make a difference. Our screen dose not have those vents. Could be the difference.
