KLOCKWERKS WINDSCREEN- INSTALL and TEST RIDE

Just picked up my Sport Glide this past week. It came with a 15" grand touring vented Gustafsson windscreen. I am 5' 8" and using a stock seat on the Sport Glide. I just look over the top of the windscreen comfortably, if I was an inch shorter or the screen an inch taller it would be a issue. At slow speeds IE below 70KM the windshield is awesome and the vents offer just the right amount of wind flow on the chest area to reduce heat in what would be the "dead air pocket" without the vents. But anything over 100Km the the buffeting I get on my helmet is brutal. My Helmut just vibrates horribly. I feel the windshield is too tall, but not tall enough to get the wind completely deflected over and above my head. A shorter windscreen Maybe a 10" might be perfect so that the wind is off the chest, but more in the upper shoulder area and leave the head/helmet in a clean air slipstream. I am temped to trial a slipstreamed 10" screen which is less than 1/2 the cost of the Klockwerks screen you have. I really wish the bike had come with the stock screen also for me to put back on to try and compare, but alas it did not. The bike is a 2018, but with only 2500KM on it and came with a few extra such as heated grips, the taller windscreen, passenger back rest and a full all weather cover. Bike is in brand new condition and so I could not pass up the deal as it was everything I was looking for. Just need to work on the windshield issue now and so would like to find out if you have tried a taller one yet.

It's so hard to find the perfect windscreen isn't it? I'm looking at the Gustaffson 12inch as I'm 167cms and have about 13inches in a straight line from the top of the fairing to level with my nose. This would bring the screen to just below my eyes and in theory work well...but as always it's a gamble and not sure if it'll work...in someways no windscreen can work better as the air can be a more consistent flow around the helmet without a screen as you said. The search continues!!

@@RidesForDays I just put on a 5.5" HD screen and I must say I really enjoyed it! Best ride yet even at 130km. 80 to 90 km was excellent. Have used with both a beanie and a full face helmet and I am stoked at the results. over 110km there is some head buffeting but manageable and not bad at all. Have found a good tight fitting helmet really helps reduce that helmet movement.

Totally agree with you re fairing off, I have removed mine for town riding and I must say loving it. I put a 10” smoked slipstreamer screen on mine and does work better. Ride and be safe

It looks awsome with the fairing off....great to have both options isn't it. So do you feel much helmet buffering with the slipstreamer 10 inch screen? How tall are you? cheers

@@RidesForDays Hi, I am 6ft tall, I get helmet buffering at 70 plus mph and noise level goes up a lot, so I try and stay under that speed as I ride most of the time two up.

Most excellent review. Really appreciate the honesty in the review. Question on your seat, did you change out the seat to adjust for being a bit shortly. Asking as i am a short-ass also LOL Cheers

I have the same issues with my 8" Klockwerks screen. I'm 5'8" and does deflect wind directly in my face, however, I get quite a bit of buffeting even with a full helmet. Needs to be wider.

Yes i felt it wasn't wide enough. They could have used the full width of the stock fairing.

maybe try another helmet and the original screen. The buffeting goes away when i bought a better helmet. I ride without a screen now, for me that's much better.

Hi, I have 2 helmets, a Bell Bullitt and a Biltwell Gringo, both pretty good full face helmets...what do you ride with?

Rides For Days now i wear a Shoei Neotec 2. I am 1.90meter and i always get buffeting around my helmet with many windscreens so no i ride without one, more wind to the chest but all clean air and 0 buffeting.
