This was one of my best friend’s favorite song. She was one of the best people I’ve ever met and helped me become the person I am today. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thinking of her and the legacy she left behind. She passed away in 2015. This song was played at her funeral. Fly high, Hannah. You’re forever my satellite. ❤️

If you're not careful you're going to make me cry... Looking back I had a girlfriend of five years, And I just didn't know what I had. She did more for me than anyone could ever imagine. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be the man I am today, And for years I have felt so bad for the way I did her. I grew up on the streets and was very detached from my feelings. She gave me three things I had never experienced or had before.. LOVE---UNDERSTANDING---AND A HOME.... I sat down a couple months back and wrote her a letter and told her exactly what I was supposed to say and exactly what she needed to hear. A few years back a friend of mine ran into her. He called me and said you wouldn't believe how bad she talks about you and that I should do something about it. I said as bad as I did her she can say anything she wants. If it helps her I'm okay with it. I really hope that letter helps her. She is such a wonderful person who didn't deserve to be treated the way I did her. To say that I am ashamed of myself is an understatement....

I get so emotional when I hear this song. I can still imagine it so clearly. Hot summer day, playing with the chalk. Mother in the lawn chair. Thinking about everything and nothing. It was some of the happiest memories that I have. Just aimlessly doing things in the heat of the summer like that. When I found this song again I felt a physical jolt. It's something that deeply resonates with me. I will forever cherish those early summers.

We all long for those moments in our childhood where we were unconcerned with any of the worlds problems. Once you grow up it's easy to become disillusioned, but I do think it's possible to recapture that magic by doing the things that you love. Do the things that put you in the state of flow, where time flies by and several hours later you sorta wake up and realize you just spent three hours painting, singing, dancing, whatever it is that you love to do.

I first heard this song on a patio under the stars on a date at a restaurant. Another night with the same person, after getting high we took a cruise down a long winding road. The fall air was cool, I had to immerse in it. Silver moon, white stars on a navy sky. We raised the volume up, rolled the windows down and I pulled myself out into the fresh autumn breeze heading towards the highway. With no lights on the road all I could hear was the music and the wind blowing through my hair as I reached as far out as I could, crisp chill sending goosebumps all over. This song will always make me feel that, and while the relationship didn't last, the memory of this song sure as hell did. This one's one of my top songs ever heard, idk why it feels so good.

This is how a hit is done. The verse and chorus are both catchy, the vocal harmonies. Melancholic, nostalgic, and sad all wrapped up in one
@davidtopoleski593511 ай бұрын
Proper composition, and beautifully written and executed!
@patricklink85277 ай бұрын
I understand what you're trying to say. However, harmonies consist of in most cases of at least three voices singing together. In different pitches . An example is soprano, tenor, and baritone. You hear it a lot in bluegrass . Think Barber Shop quartet . What is being done here through the whole song is what's called doubling. A common technique in studios. The singer will sing his part, then come back and sing it again over it with no difference in pitch. Elliott Smith was a master of this. This is why he's able to sing in almost a whisper and still be well heard. It does make everybody sound like a good singer to sing over this song because of this. However, although there is harmony between the vocals and the chords produced by the guitar, there are no harmonies sung anywhere in this great song . I'm just letting you know for your edification. Now you know. Cheers, brother!

Heard this song on the radio, and used soundhound to look it up. It makes me feel so melancholy and wistful for something I can't identify- but it a good way. In a way that reminds me how beautiful the world is and how feelings, good and bad, are so central to what it means to be human.

I was thinking of this song on the way home and I forgot who sang it so I pulled over. Did my Google search and have played it 3 times, and as I pull into my driveway it's playing again ❤💜
