Mirdproductions I went through the same thing with _this_ song and a few others. ✔ I used to work at Sheetz (cashier) and we were a very busy store so when this song would come on our overhead speakers (satellite), I could hear the tune and hear them singing but couldn't hear the lyrics, & I could never get away from the register, to hear them. I think it took me 2 or 3 months before I managed to clearly hear the 1st line of the chorus. I wrote it down and Googled it as soon as I got home. I had to do the same thing with Keane's "Silenced by the night" and Tegan & Sara's "I'm not your hero", lol.

This was me and my wife's song together. Such a wonderful song . I lost her a little over two months ago , however this song helps me keep my chin up and reminds me of the great times we had together . 16 years almost 17 together and I feel like a lucky man to have had the love I did with her . I miss you brown eyes , here's to you. One day I will know the secret and see you again!

Everyone's talking about how this song brings back memories of what they were doing when it first came out years ago. But i only heard this song for the first time this week, and even i feel a deep familiarity with it. Like it's bringing up nostalgia for nothing in particular. This song speaks directly to the soul.

Lyrics: I want to live where soul meets body And let the sun wrap its arms around me, And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing And feel... feel what it's like to be new. 'Cause in my head There's a Greyhound station Where I send my thoughts To far-off destinations So they may have a chance Of finding a place where they're Far more suited than here. I cannot guess what we'll discover When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels, But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's And not one speck will remain. I do believe it's true That there are roads left in both of our shoes, But if the silence takes you Then I hope it takes me too. So brown eyes, I'll hold you near, 'Cause you're the only song I want to hear. A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere. Where soul meets body. Where soul meets body. Where soul meets body. And I do believe it's true That there are roads left in both of our shoes, But if the silence takes you Then I hope it takes me too. So brown eyes, I'll hold you near, 'Cause you're the only song I want to hear. A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere. A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere. A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere. A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.

Marriage struggles are not fun. The lyrics of this song are not only beautiful, but they have healing power. Seriously. When two people are married, have been married before and are at an emotional crossroads, "I do believe it's true that there are roads left in both of our shoes" and "You're the only song I want to hear, a melody softly soaring through my atmosphere" take on a whole new meaning. This might be the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

2009, my 8th grade teacher would play Death Cab for Cutie during class along with the Fray. He always raved about them. I always thought they were strange names for bands but my 13 year old brain couldn’t comprehend rock at the time. I was listening to Gucci Mane/rap and Drum & Bass at the time. Everything was hype hype hype when I was younger. Now at 25, I’ve explored many different musical avenues and now just going back in time to hear what the noise was. Turns out some of these melancholic indie songs were relatable and there was much more than just rap. Thanks Mr. Giuliano. Hope you and my 7th grade teacher are still happily married and raising your children well!

I love this song so much. The first 2 verses I relate to with traits of my ADHD ("I send my thoughts to far off destinations") and the hook reminds me of my husband, who understands me so well. "So brown eyes I'll hold you near, cuz you're the only song I want to hear." And the last line is exactly how I feel my husband's presence and love in my life: "a melody softly soaring through my atmosphere." He's everywhere, gently, letting me be me but existing all around and alongside me. It's a beautiful song.

Even so I still love my edm and such, and I worship music from video games (Splatoon has some great stuff, with multiple fictional bands and different music genres in the game. From rock to metal, to weird synth noises with lyrics in a non-existent language) But coming back to these songs from my young childhood, before my life changed so fucking much, is really amazing.

@Justin Rios bullshit, music is medicine. Depression is the deactivation of neuronal activity and chemical changes often brought about through big life changes. Music, particularly music that you enjoy releases endorphins and oxytocin that can elevate your mood and sense of well being. It absolutely can help with depression.

I know it's probably been said a million times over but this is a beautiful song. It reminds me of the first time I tried or wanted something blissful. Kind of like when I first meet a girl I like. I like the atmospheric sound too, it takes me to a different state of mind, just beautiful.

I am middle aged and was a teen in the 90's. I seriously thought this was a missing early 90's song I missed in the midst of Catherine Wheel, Verve and Adorable. I was so amazed it was made in 2009. These guys captured PEEK 90's British alternative.

I believe it was in 2006. I was taking courses at the university on the weekend for my degree and was playing this on my way in my car early mornings. I can remember hearing this tune all day long.

It feels like almost all Death Cab fans are people in their late 20s, early 30s, reminiscing about their younger years! Going through these comments, I can't count the amount of comments that start with something like "I remember when this first came out..." It's funny to me, because I got the exact same feeling when I heard this song again today, and decided to look it up.

Well I remember when I first hear this song... about 3 hours ago. I was too busy listening to iron maiden and blind guardian in 2005 to notice stuff like this. happy for songza and youtube to help me broaden my musical horizons.

I heard the beginning of this song every night when I was a teenager on this radio show called love line. At that time Dr. Drew hosted it and it was like no other radio show I had ever heard. Recently I heard it at work and fell in love with the whole song.
