Yep...my SnugtTop rear glass window did the same thing...woke-up this morning to find it completely shattered...+$600 to replace it from the dealer (what a scam for a piece of glass!); called SnugTop to see if they had my model in stock...was automatically placed on hold and no one ever picked-up, very frustrating...when I finally replace this shell I will not buy another SnugTop! I have all the tools you used, so its off to purchase my own 5mm piece of tinted plastic and follow your video. Thank you!!!

Plexiglass correct? Not LExan? How has it held up a few years later??? I need to do this ASAP to my SNUGTOP
@Gustomondo3 жыл бұрын
Yes, plexiglass. To be honest I really don't know what lexan is. To date it's still on the car now, and haven't had any trouble with it cracking, it does the job (and took the truck to rough mountain terrain).

Very nice job, I appreciated you sharing this, I have a question can you send me a link where are you purchasing plexiglass. thank you!
@Gustomondo2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry mate, this has been done a while back and I can't remember the exact company. But depending where you are in the world, your best bet is Google, there are a lot of companies that sell plexiglass cut to size directly.

do u have a link to where u got the tinted glass, could only find regular at menards

Even with the link mate, I am in the UK. so google would be your best bet to find it.

My snugtop window exploded from the heat yesterday. Just wondering if you traced the cardboard from the inside, then added 1-2” around the perimeter would make a more precise piece?
@Gustomondo5 жыл бұрын
I didn't trace from the inside, but that might be a good idea. I wasn't too bothered about the looks of it as I am using the truck on the mountains mainly. But it's watertight as the window closes on the rubber seal around it. I'm sure I could have done a better job if I would have been more patient...

@Gustomondo6 жыл бұрын
Hi. I've got mine here in the UK online. There are a lot of sites that have it, perspex direct for example and many more. Depending where you live and how much would you want to spend on it.

Hey great clip !!! Just wandering if 4.5mm Tinted perspex would be possible ? Since I have an ARB canopy on the back of my D40 Navara Ute ..... ARB want $500 to replace it . I can acquire a sheet of Perspex that'd cover the area for $200 .... I thought I'd do it myself, & appreciate the film clip. Cheers, Steve
@Gustomondo3 жыл бұрын
It will work for sure. Although I've paid almost 4 times less for that piece of perspex. Good luck mate!

Great video! I promised the lady a trip to grizzly country next week and window just shattered. Glass is 6 weeks out so time to get to work on this. About how long did this process take you in sweat equity?
@Gustomondo4 жыл бұрын
It took me about 4 hours if I can remember correctly. But I started blind, didn't really know what I was doing just winging it. Some things had to be done twice, some screws had to be changed around... That kind of stuff.
