one car break? Do you even know "the break" means? Most people call it the hit. It's when you leave when you see the other car leave, which usually translates to .2-.5 sec at the end of the track, which is about 2 buses. He was offering the back tire, which to me, would have been a lot smarter, since that's about .1 sec or less and they leave at the same time.

I'm not a fan of handicapped races like that either, but it was a grudge race and the guy agreed to giving him the dig. If he didn't like any of the rules they used for the race, he could've walked away. Heads up, it probably would've been one hell of a race, but that's not what they agreed on so the dude can't complain about it. It's kinda like going to the bank and taking out a loan, agreeing on 10% interest, then going back in and complaining that you have to pay $1,100 when you only borrowed $1,000. Tesla Racing Channel (Please like so that all can see, including the main man himself...hopefully xD) I went back and watched the grudge race again but at 0.25x speed. I timed the Tesla from the moment it moved, till I could see the flashlight on the ground (I'm using the video where the camera is looking back). It took ~29.20 seconds and thus 7.3 seconds in real time (29.2 ÷ 4 or 29.2 × 0.25). Then I rewinded and timed the Camaro from the moment it moved till it passed the flashlight (relative to it). It took ~29.30 seconds and thus 7.325 seconds in real time (29.3 ÷ 4 or 29.3 × 0.25). So assuming that they have the same reaction time, the Tesla is faster even if the Camaro hadn't given him the brake (and if Charles still used launch control). But now I'm gonna go and calculate an average reaction time for Charles (in this video) by using similar methods of measurement (just you know, with the flash of the light and then the first movement). And see if that would make any difference between them (assuming that the Camaro has the exact same reaction time as it did at the end). UPDATE: I gathered these reaction times of Charles: 00.21 00.80 01.18 00.93 01.13 = 4.25 seconds in total Divide by 4 because of playback speed, and then by 5 because it's an average of 5 values (didn't use the first "test run" because finding a starting point for timing with a pair of dropping arms is quite hard, and people would react differently to a flashing light vs. arms dropping) = 0.2125 seconds avg. reaction time for Charles. This is the reaction time I get for the Camaro (from first movement of Tesla to its own first movement): 01.45 seconds Again, divide by 4 but then split it in half for fairness because it's not that easy to react correctly to a Tesla squatting down multiple times before finally launching. = 0.18125 seconds avg. reaction time for Camaro (compensated for fairness). Now: Tesla's real time + reaction time of Charles = 7.3 + 0.2125 = 7.5125 seconds. Camaro's real time + compensated reaction time = 7.325 + 0.18125 = 7.50625 seconds. So the Camaro reaches the "finish line" by 0.00625 seconds "ahead" of the Tesla but by then at least half of the Tesla's body is over the finish line (because you can only see the back half of the Tesla on the part of the video where the camera is looking back [remember, the part of the vid where the camera faces forward is cut short] so I had to end my timing where I could first see the light on the ground, next to the Tesla). So in the end, if Charles still used launch control and he kept that avg. reaction time going, the Tesla would still win by half of its own body length if it was a "normal" drag race, if not by more. the tesla will accelerate up to a certain speed and wont be able to go any faster. it will get to max speed and hold there, as with most electric vehicles, it only has 1 gear. I'm a electric forklift mechanic and atleast with our forklifts, the drive motor output shaft drops right into the diff. No transmission or gearbox. So its limmited to the gear ratio of the diff and the phases and max rpm of the electric motor. The tesla would reach max speed before the 8th mile finish marker. Hence why near the end of the race you see all the petrol cars start to freight train towards the tesla. Had it been a 1/4 mile race, the petrol cars would decimate the tesla, as they have better gear ratio's, and the ability to change to higher gears allowing more acceleration.

Any race the Tesla on slicks gets to move first is going to go poorly for the other car, the 60ft time matters even more on low traction surfaces. I stopped racing for more than $50-100 unless someone was loaded and trying to lose more. I used to race for whatever I could get someone to race for, but when people are very confident they won't lose they sometimes bet more than they can afford to lose. When I was 18, I had someone express their regrets of over-betting their budget with their brass knuckles breaking my eye socket tearing my eyelid and teeth and jaw and beating gashes into the back of my scalp. Retrospectively I'm super grateful for the experience being a positive step towards improving the way I set wagers low. However, I was racing a sleeper, you're racing a gutted Tesla that's obviously launching well on the low traction surface and your opponent had fair forewarning of this, so even with a 7-8sec car (on a prepped track) it will still be unlikely to be competitive without a pro traction control setup on a well prepared good street slick setup. Very fast no-prep street cars exist, your Tesla drivetrain is still stock. Just adding some mass in very high C rate RC cells that are on connectors to mate after the contactor has closed would reduce voltage sag, and if bussed in on the right side of current sensors may substantially increase the cars top-end pull. It would be great to see you go to a dyno with mods like the extra high C-rate cell pack and do a baseline pull and then charge back to the same SOC (for repeatability and to be at the same voltage as the high power pack). It should make the incredible launch level acceleration rate continue to a substantially higher speed before it tapers in acceleration as a battery power limitation. If I can fit it into my consulting schedule I would consider helping you tap your pack and setup a track-only high Crate battery and appropriate contactor and fusing and cabling etc (designing performance EV battery systems happens to be my day job). Keep up the great work! Your channel is the single motorsports channel I follow and am always excited to see new videos. If you are still slipping on the Hoosiers, don't be afraid to let some air out, but pump them up again post racing or the sidewalls sometimes overheat and fail on the highway.

Lylian Varker you could drop a bunch of weight with a replacement pack of course, but its also going to require spoofing the Tesla CAN bus adequately to still think the stock pack is there or you need to spoof the motor controllers to enable and may not easily maintain traction control. If you look at a G force curve of how hard a P100DL pulls, you see it tapers off at ~45mph. At this point the vehicle is up against its battery power limits and could be continuing to pull at that pre 45mph rate for some additional period. This will far more than offset its own mass addition to the vehicle just as a nitrous bottle in a hotrod offsets it's own mass in increased acceleration.

Only options I see now is to get a lighter battery and carbon fiber hoods, doors, frunk and trunk. Also, there's a guy named Jason Hughes on youtube who modified a P85+ RWD to 553 RWHP or around 650 horsepower. P100D actual horsepower is ambiguous but some estimate around 760 horse power so another 30 percent increase would be 988 horsepower! Nearly 1000 horsepower!
