I've never really enjoyed washing gutters and fascias but it's such a good money making add on I've always been looking for the easiest way of doing it so after seeing numerous Instagram posts I decided to look into using a pressure washer on them. This lead me to buy an 18' lance to try it.
There are loads of different lances to purchase but I didn't want to spend a lot in case I didn't like it so I didn't look for weight or how ridged they were, it was the price that helped me with my decision.
It was also the fact that I already had a K4 Karcher which is small and light enough to use instead of taking my big pressure washer, and the lance that I chose had a Karcher connector.
Take a look at the full details of the lance below

Nice one Dave. As you know I’ve been using this method for over 18months now and not had one complaint. (Well over 100 houses) That’s why we use a small pressure washer rather than the big machine. As long as your not up close to the vents etc it’s fine. It’s definitely the best method to get all the clips clean and get the spider nests out. I experimented on my own property first before I took the idea to a customer’s property. I’ve now got a regular client list to have this clean done annually, so if it was doing any damage or causing damp issues I don’t think I’d be rebooked. Wait till you get the turbo nozzle mate you’ll notice the difference. Once you get into the swing of it you’ll be rattling them out.

Hi Dave. As someone who had a roofing business for 12 years prior to taking up window cleaning for a less stressful life. I would strongly advise not to pressure was underneath any soffit. Window cleaning pole is fine as the pressure is non existent. Keep safe and good luck

I use my Nilfisk P200 with roof cleaner telescopic foamer lance to apply chems, then my spinaclean telescopic lance to clean after, bought a connector to use M22 fittings with the Nilfisk power hose end. Absolutely brilliant, tho I am wary of the undersides of fascias and soffits.

Generally I wouldn’t use high pressure on the soffits due to potential water ingress. I find the inverted brush with 4 jets does the job in pretty much the same time. Sometimes I’ll pre-spray the GF&S with a mild chemical to make life easier.

Great idea! A turbo nozzle will not be better if a normal angle nozzle removes the dirt fine. With a Turbo nozzle you will need to keep a safe distance, as holding too close will possibly damage the surface. Did you know even some upvc fascia’s have laminated surface in top?

Do you have a more detailed video of the lance, it looked like you could extended the pole and retract it while vertical? I bought one years ago and it wouldnt do this with water pressure inside it had to be laid horizonal each time then trying to lift up 5m was hard. Was there much flex in yours

I’m not really sure about this method at all Dave, I’ve seen it used in America but most of their houses are covered in plastic fascia and the way they are built there is no way water would get into them, the best method is a hot water pressure washer, which you can turn onto Steam I’ve seen this method used it’s absolutely brilliant but the problem is the machines weigh up to about 90 kg or more imagine lugging one round a house and they start at about £2000 for a decent one so you would have to do a lot of cleans to make your money up

Not sure I’d feel happy about pressure washing a fascia or soffit (gutter wouldn’t be an issue, the force of a pressure washer could quite easily get water into the roof space particularly with new builds and the different types of eaves ventilators they use.

Iv not got much experience with facias and gutters myself, so excuse my ignorance. Could you not just go at the job without the chemicals? I mean you’re using pressure now. I could understand why if you’re scrubbing with a wfp still, but surely the pressure washer is more than capable of removing dirt from plastic with no problems??. Great vid tho Dave, I’m not criticising I’m just asking, cheers 👍

Well I never thought of using pressure washer for the type of roof, this could cause leak and damage the structure of the roof, spraying chemicals and washing off the chemicals with spray feed power yes , more power pack etc. than you end up paying for damage caused by too much unnecessary pressure and future leakage in the house , you might get away with good solid roofs, but the old ones surely is a big risk of damaging people property, i rather charged more and use conventional method than facing legal action and extra costs and time, that type of roof is designed for receiving water from above not from under with pressurized water flow force under it

Hi Dave, this is total madness you are asking for trouble, a lot of soft and fascias are vented and you will push water up into the roof space, also they are not sealed well enough to stop water from a pressure washer going up into the roof space. You are giving people ideas which is a good thing but on this occasion it is not, a lot of cleaners have no experience of how builders put things together, you are asking for trouble because if someone watches this video and causes damage to a property, they are going to try and put the blame on you. I have been to a property that had the plastics cleaned with a pressure washer, there was trims hanging off all over the place loose gutters rather you than me this is just corner cutting.

Dave, all due respect for your work experience and years spent in the trade - but this is the most stupid idea I've ever seen on this channel. It's cool and is very fast, however there were lots of reported leaks and fascia braking that happened over years that this is a very BAD idea. Water gets above the fascia and ends up inside them mostly streaking down the attic and causing leaks. Not a good way of doing it. Effective? Yes! Efficient? Yes! Safe? Not at all.
