In you demo, you stacked the vast majority of debris on top of the filter, not in front of it where it would naturally clog. Why?

It won't sell if you know the problems it has.
@KB-ie7jrАй бұрын
I'd assume because this type of filter system has to be installed along the entire length of gutter not just part of it
@jinsu05042 жыл бұрын
well the debris just bypassed all and went through the down spout. the other leaves you put on top were filtered but those that are collected as a downstream will just make it to the drain, eventually clogging it
@FlatRoofDoctor2 жыл бұрын
I made another video where I left the filter in the gutter for over a year and it was working very good. I took the video in a rain storm to show it works
@lar43052 жыл бұрын
I agree, the way he is demonstrating it is not a natural progression of the way it builds up. I used the small wire one the goes into the top , the first one he had and it works just fine. I go up and clean it once a year.

We have needles from fir trees. Wouldn't they clog up the drains that are buried underground using a one inch filter?
@wesporter21762 жыл бұрын
Yeah the best is the traps that fit on the bottom of the downspout that you can pull out and clean every couple months if you have under ground drains so they don't block up.

You helped it quite a bit with the way in which you were placing the debris and pouring the water. This is not how rain and water will flow through. Id like to see the debris move by the water rather than you placing it on top otherwise i cant be sure of what you claim these will do.

Where can I buy the Z gutter filters? Do you have a link?
@ksk551710 ай бұрын
At time stamped 3:16, you used the running water from the hose to forcefully move the debris into the sprout. Sorry to say this, but your Z-Gutter Filter is not better than other BS methods.

What happens to your roof when there is 6" of snow on top of all that debris? At the end of the year, you would still have to clean the gutters when the leaves are done falling.

The square gaps are not as tight or small or say a mesh guard so I was thinking that surely smaller leaves and debris can still make it through?
@teipkep6 ай бұрын
The point with the debris filter, is so it doesnt get debris in the pipe that goes underground. If you dont have a pipe go under ground, then its no problem. The filter you liked, is better if put directly on top of gutter.
@georgek.81342 жыл бұрын
I would like to see a downspout on your example, the debris flowing out is only going thru a 2 inch long drain. An 8 foot long downspout may accumulate and hold the debris.
@SurfingWithTheMartian Жыл бұрын
Put 1/4” galvanized steel mesh (hardware cloth) over your gutters one side under your shingles the other side screwed down to the edge of the gutter. 1. Keeps out debris. 2. Doesn’t restrict water flow. 3. Leaves and other debris won’t build up on top of the mesh because it’s angled downward. 4. Very cheap and available at local hardware store. 5. Easy to cut-install using 3’ x 6” sections. 6. Effective-any debris small enough to get through 1/4” mesh won’t clog your downspouts and gets washed away. Even if you still get good water drainage from using the filters in this video your gutters will eventually fail from the weight of the debris building up unless you clean your gutters. No gutter cleaning necessary with the mesh method described above.

What if you literally only have one tree (glossy privet) in the vicinity that’s pollutes the gutter, and nothing else? I was recommended the first strainers by my roof tech. Otherwise agreed, the Z’s are nice! Any feedback you can share would be great thanks!

How did you make the plexiglass gutter? I'd love to have a section like that to easily keep an eye on how the gutters are doing.
@FlatRoofDoctor3 жыл бұрын
I went to Home Depot and got a sheet of plexiglass. Then I used a Torch to heat up the plexiglass while lying on top of a gutter. It slowly started to conform to the gutter. took hours and was not easy

You won't believe it, but it is not easy. This particular gutter I made from plexiglass I got at Home Depot. I used a roofing Torch to heat it up to make the bends. Since then I made another on slightly better, but I don't have the method down yet. I still have to find the right technique to bend plexi glass

Your recommendation for best “filter”, IS NOT FILTERING!!! The debris will now get stuck in a hard to clean area. My downspouts dump into a corrugated pipe that travels underground. I would much rather clean a screen mesh that gets clogged in the gutter, versus having all the debris getting stuck in my corrugated tubing underground!!
@dttrandom2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Much easier to clear one spot at the downspout in the gutter than trying to clear the downspout itself or worse clearing the drain underground. I do understand the concept of straining large debris while letting smaller ones drain through because the size of the drain shouldn't clog with small debris as heavy rain will easily flush them. But the open end of the filter he shows will let large enough debris through in time and once you get a partial clog you're well on your way to getting a full clog. Maybe a modification to the design where at the end where it faces the onrushing water it should be blocked off or have the same mesh as on top. No matter what filter is put in gutters still need to be checked periodically.
@NRHTX1 Жыл бұрын
I had the similar thought because I have 6 downspouts in all, 3 of which are attached to french drains. I simply need something to stop leaves and other objects from passing through the spout. Annual cleaning will be simpler than hiring a plumber to clear the French drain. In order to flush any debris out of the french drain, I recently bought a Sewer Jetter Kit for Pressure Washer to attach to my pressure washer.

Easier yet. just paying 25 dollars and buying a gutter stick. I just cleared a gutter that had the expanded screen over the top. The small stuff falls through that rot and then slides in mass and plugs up the downspout. The gutter stick is the most straightforward answer to solving the problem.

Did you collaborate with this company on your 2015 design? I would be interested in investing in this for my gutters but would be interested in seeing long term tests. Right now I see land based vacuuming as the best option with schedule 20 pipe. 2 story max.

Seems like a b.s. demo. OK, so the little blue filters didn't clog up... that's because they let all the stuff run under them and down into the downspout. At that point what is the goal you are trying to achieve here? You would get the same results to take them out.
