A detail I love is that when the sentient ball gets broken, the people in the bowling alley aren’t mad at Melvin at all like they would be in an average show that needs more tension. They didn’t care he was cheating, they just wanted to get out alive. Instead, they’re angry at Robbie and obviously fearful for their lives that he has put back into jeopardy; even though they doubt Melvin’s ability to succeed, they still put their hope in him and cheer him on. It’s SOOO cool when Melvin gets angry, the way he’s presented with the backround becoming cold, black and white like him is super interesting. It really does seem like cold rage. Someone who’s normally pretty passive and reclusive becoming more scary and angrier than someone who you’d expect to be angry.

I really love Melvin as a character. Weirdly realistic in a way. He has good in him but like a lot of people he has those evil thoughts nagging him in the back of his head. It takes talent to flesh out a character in so short of a timeframe. I'm super invested in seeing what else can be done with Melvin. Take your time meatcanyon. As the kids say, let him cook.

I said it in another comment trend but cant find it anymore, but in shrt: Robby was likely super jealous of his dad. We see he shows up to the bowling alley often (the cigarete beats on the buttom in the begining might be his). And for all the shit he talks, he isnt even on the Perfect game board, so he likely was Jim's rival or just an asshole to him aswell. Since he cant ever oneup Jim after he died, he takes it out on Melvin. Hell, with what happened in Earwax, its possible Jim was very similar to Melvin and run into his own macabre situations, wich lead alot of rumours Robby is spreading.

My favorite little detail is that the final spare and everything with it -- the ball getting crushed, Robbie saying shit, and everyone getting worked up over the last spare was for nothing He had to get a 220 to break the curse and, he ended up bowling a 223, with a spare as the last square which means, even if he got a gutterball in the last square, he would have 221, which means he would've won anyway and just, nobody notices???
@NinjaMan47 Жыл бұрын
Melvin is a perfect anti-hero. He is someone who never throws the first punch and is in fact kind of a punching bag for those around him. If you push him past that point he becomes a demon and will destroy you, regardless of if your are demon or just some scumbag. And yet, all it takes is some genuine kindness to defuse him. But he never forgets and once he is in a position of strength he will not forgive.
