Guy try smoking the meat before hand, it adds a whole other flavor demension to the chili. I just coat the chili meat with the spices that I want to put in the chili, apple wood for a deep smoke flavor and cherry wood for a molder smoke flavor.

So what’s So Dragon’s Breath about this chili? This recipe should be called Chilli for Children, Small Children from Kansas and Nebraska where if you use Black Pepper in a recipe in more than minuscule amounts a dish is considered to be smoking hot and a tiny bottle of Tabasco will last a family of 8 at least a year and sometimes two.
@Chris-us7tj3 жыл бұрын

Can anyone answer this please? Why do so many chefs (including Guy in this video) add: smoked paprika garlic powder cayenne pepper onion powder dried oregano. ( okay I didn’t see him add oregano) ground cumin To their dishes (mainly chili but other dishes as well) And then add Chili Powder which is simply a mix of the same: smoked paprika garlic powder cayenne pepper onion powder dried oregano ground cumin ??? It’s an honest question that I, as an aspiring great cook, truly want to know. It seems odd and just doesn’t make any sense that I can surmise.
@thatbobusguy5 жыл бұрын
Because you always need just a dash more!
@alexblaze88785 жыл бұрын
ThatBobusGuy has well that’d be great if all the ingredients in chili powder were in equal amounts but alas they’re not. So there’s that.
@alexblaze88785 жыл бұрын
ThatBobusGuy also if you need a little more of each ingredient why not just add more of each in the first place? It’s not like he tasted after all the ingredients were in and said “hmmm this needs a little more of every spice I just added so let me put in some chili powder to ramp up all the individual ingredients”.
@alexblaze88785 жыл бұрын
ThatBobusGuy how do you know? He didn’t measure out any of the spices to begin with so how does he knows he needs a little more of each before tasting it?

Hey Guy, you forgot the kitchen sink! This is like kitty cat's breath chili. Should you want to make it into real Dragon's breath chili, please add 1/4 cup(about the same amount of granulated garlic that Guy added) minced Scotch Bonnet peppers. Also, it's best not to peel the potatoes and lose that flavor and nutrition.
@bobbycratchet39583 жыл бұрын
@@gustavthegreat2811 So does dragon's breath. It isn't enough to be on the level of Da bomb but certainly enough to live up to the name. If I were to do anything less it would just be very hot. Once you start attaching monikers like dragon, satan, hell's fire and the like, the heat will be outside of the norm but not debilitating by any means.

The timing of the various steps is absurd! Ten minutes prep? Come on. Just reading the recipe and setting out your ingredients will take all of ten minutes even if everything is on a shelf within an arms reach! Plan on at least 90 minutes! Just for the hell of it try cleaning and mincing a whole head of garlic. Ten minutes at home? Not gonna happen! As much as I enjoy GF’s work this recipe needs lots of Work!
