I once read a book at 12 years old during reading-class. Teacher told us to put the books away, but this book was fascinating and I did not hear him. I kept reading, mesmerized by the adventures of the girls in the book. I remember there was a sandpile or something, where they found a medallion. It was 30 minutes later (I was in the front row ffs) and the teacher júst noticed I wasn't doing maths, but instead, reading a book. With my nose nearly on the page. He first told a few jokes to the class (which was awesome, because nobody liked me there to begin with, I was the 'sad, bullied girl' and then he crept closer. They counted. One, two, three. He then kicked really hard against my table-leg, the book flew off the table and landed crumpled on the floor and I gasped in fear. He said; ' *WE'RE DOING MATHS...EMMA!* ' and I started tearing up and pouting involuntarily. I kept gasping for air, still shaken by what just happened. The kids laughed, one kid went; 'Ahahahaaaah she's crying!' and the teacher made me pick up the book, put it away and continue with maths. I didn't want to read in class any longer after that and I remember holding the table-leg for a few weeks, whenever the teacher walked passed, because I was afraid he might kick the table over again and that it might hit my face this time.
